SCO International Forum on Sustainable Development will be held in Minsk

On August 5, 2026, Sergei Aleinik, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs and National Security, National Coordinator for the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, held an online meeting with Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Interaction with International Organizations in the Field of Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the preparations for the SCO International Forum on Sustainable Development, which will be held on November 2, 2026, in Minsk, with the participation of national coordinators from the SCO member states. Sergei Aleinik emphasized that the Minsk platform should become an important stage in coordinating joint actions of the SCO member states, which will make it possible to formulate coordinated regional recommendations and proposals for a new global sustainable development agenda for the period after 2030. Developing such proposals will ensure the presentation of a substantive and strategically sound position of the region at the international level.
The participants also exchanged experience in implementing national programs aimed at achieving the SDGs and discussed current issues related to bilateral cooperation.
The joint efforts of Belarus and Russia to implement the 2030 Agenda make an important contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at the global level.
