On January 11, 2023, a press-conference will be held in Minsk on the topic: «Specially protected natural territories of the Republic of Belarus. Development of ecotourism and conservation of rare species».
The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Park «Belovezhskaya Pushcha» and the Republican Landscape Reserve «Naliboksky».
During the press-conference, the participants will discuss how the protection of specially protected natural areas in Belarus, rare species of wild animals and wild plants is ensured, the identification of new rare species, and also talk about the development of ecotourism.

An important role in regional sustainable development is played by 80 plus cities, comprising 15 percent of the employed in the economy, 150 thousand sq. meters of finished industrial sites, more than 500 hectares of unoccupied land in free economic zones. It is planned that by the end of 2025, at least 100 projects with a total investment of more than 600 million rubles will be implemented in these cities and 3.5 thousand jobs will be created.

Every year in the Republic of Belarus, a republican competition is held to reduce emissions from motor vehicles.
To participate in the competition in 2023, business entities operating 25 or more units of motor vehicles must send the reports of the participants of the competition to the regional and Minsk city committees of natural resources and environmental protection by February 15, 2023.
The procedure for organizing and holding the competition is determined by the Instruction on the procedure for holding the republican competition to reduce emissions from motor vehicles, approved by the Decree of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection dated August 29, 2019 № 27.
The holding of the republican competition to reduce emissions from motor vehicles contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 13 and other SDGs.
In the Vitebsk region, a regional investment program for 2023 was approved, according to which it is planned to implement 244 investment projects worth about 165 million rubles. Particular attention in the development of the document was paid to increasing the volume of housing construction, as well as providing residential areas with socially guaranteed facilities. About 76.2% of the total funding of the program will be directed to housing construction and housing and communal services. Also, the regional investment program includes objects in the field of education, engineering and transport infrastructure, land reclamation, healthcare, water disposal, iron removal stations, etc.

In order to develop industry in the regions, the Republic of Belarus is implementing an initiative to create a network of industrial parks – they will open in cities and districts with more than 80 thousand inhabitants throughout the country and will be designed primarily for small and medium-sized businesses. Local customs zones and educational centers, railway and road transport hubs will be created in typical industrial parks.
By January 1, 2025, it is planned to complete the construction and launch the production of the first industrial parks – in Baranovichi and Pinsk. Thus, in the industrial park in Baranavichy, emphasis will be placed on mechanical engineering and the production of devices. It is planned to develop biotechnological production in Pinsk.
The implementation of the project to create industrial parks will contribute to the economic growth of the regions, the development of small and medium-sized businesses in them and investment activity, which will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 8, 9 and other SDGs.

The first super-fast charging complex for electric vehicles was launched in the Brilevichi microdistrict of Minsk. The complex has eight stations for charging electric vehicles, seven of which are 100-kilowatt and one is super-fast at 350 kW, as well as an energy storage system that allows you to accumulate energy and reduces the load on the power system during peak hours.
It is planned that 87 super-fast charging complexes will be built in Belarus by 2030, including a wider configuration. In total, to date, 628 charging stations have been put into operation in the country, of which 435 are fast charging stations.
The creation of charging stations for electric vehicles makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 11, 12, 13 and other SDGs.

By Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 27, 2022, №918 the international technical assistance project «Supporting the efforts of the Republic of Belarus in the nationalization and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals» was approved. The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations Population Fund and the World Health Organization in partnership with the National Coordinator for the achievement of the SDGs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Statistical Committee and other republican government bodies and regional executive committees.
The new project is aimed at supporting the functioning of the national architecture for managing the process of achieving the SDGs, local sustainable development, improving approaches to collecting and evaluating data, and monitoring progress in achieving the SDGs. Much attention in the project will also be paid to the issues of education for sustainable development and the involvement of young people in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
In modern conditions, the introduction of innovative budgeting tools is especially important. In 2022, experts prepared recommendations on performance-based budgeting in the healthcare system and conducted training on this topic for heads of healthcare organizations and economists, as well as developed a training manual «Performance-oriented budgeting and clinical cost groups as a tool to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system».
The introduction of innovative budgeting tools in the healthcare system will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.

The site provides up-to-date data on the country’s demographic policy, educational centers and conferences, databases with gender statistics, the final census of the population of Belarus, the size, natural and migration movement of the population, the level of its well-being, health, education, etc.
The functioning of the website of the Demographic Resource Center will help to improve the efficiency of collection, analysis and use of the country’s demographic data, which will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
