Implementation of the initiative «Parent-Friendly Company» discussed in Minsk

On December 9, 2022, a round table «On the implementation of the initiative «Parent-Friendly Company»: first experience, problematic issues, prospects» was held in Minsk, organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

During the event, representatives of government agencies and the business community studied the experience of organizations that have already joined the initiative «Parent Friendly Company» and shared their successful practices and tools to support working parents.

The implementation of the initiative «Parent Friendly Company» contributes to the creation of favorable jobs and working conditions for parent employees, which makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10 and other SDGs.

On December 8-9, 2022, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Library in the era of digitalization in the present and future» was held on the basis of the Republican Scientific and Technical Library.

During the event, practical issues of improving the information support of scientific, innovative and industrial activities of organizations and enterprises, work with specialized libraries, library and information services in the age of electronic communications were discussed.

Improving library and information services contributes to the development of new scientific areas and industries, the intensification of innovation, which makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, 9 and other SDGs.

A resident of the Belarus Hi-Tech Park – company «Epol Soft» – has developed an information system for managing ambulance calls «Ambulance team».

The information system is a service available on a mobile device and integrated with the information system «Dispatcher», which speeds up the transfer of information, reduces paperwork and time for preparing documents, collecting and processing analytical information.

The program has already been implemented in the SHI «Emergency Station of Brest». For several months of the system’s operation, more than 200 thousand calls from ambulance teams have already been processed. It is planned to introduce an information system throughout Belarus.

Also, the information system «Pharmacy Warehouse» is currently being developed, which will help control the stock and consumption of medicines in ambulance teams.

The development and use of the information system « Ambulance team» will make an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9 and other SDGs.

On December 8-9, 2022, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Social Development in Modern Conditions» was held in Minsk. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus and the Labor Research Institute with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The conference was attended by representatives of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the United Nations Population Fund in the Republic of Belarus, the scientific community from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, China.

The participants of the conference shared their experience and best practices on the development of family policy, the implementation of an active aging strategy, employment of the population, the development of the labor market, the application of approaches in the field of demographic and social policy in the conditions of the modern labor market and employment.

The holding of the international scientific and practical conference «Social Development in Modern Conditions» will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.

In order to increase the economic potential through effective interaction in production, processing, transportation, promotion, sales of products in the Vitebsk region, the initiative «Agricultural Cluster of the Orsha District» is being implemented.

The initiative brings together representatives of peasant farms in the Orsha and Senno districts. The basis of the cluster activity is the introduction of innovative technologies in the processing of crops, including the testing of precision farming methods using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Today, the cluster includes 4 peasant farms, a corporate identity and a development strategy for 2023, management and other regulations have already been developed, a website has been created, and equipment has been purchased.

The implementation of the «Agricultural Cluster of the Orsha District» initiative will contribute to the development of small businesses and increase the sustainability of crops, which will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 2, 8, 9, 10 and other SDGs.

A social project for pupils of the SEI «Pinsk Special Boarding School» for children with hearing impairment is being implemented at the EE «Polesye State University» with the support of the SEI «Managing Company of the Concern Brestmyasomolprom Holding».

Now about ten students from the 8th to the 12th grade of the boarding school are participating in the project. Classes are conducted by students of the specialty «information technology» accompanied by teachers of the educational institution. The training program consists of basic courses: «My PC», «Microsoft Office and Google tools», «Programming basics. Net», «Web Development». After the adaptation period, a more in-depth program of teaching IT-skills is planned for boarding school students.

The implementation of the social project will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, 10 and other SDGs.

In order to prevent electrical injuries, as well as to warn the population about the danger of electric shock, an interactive map of electrical injury cases developed in the Republic of Belarus. The map contains information on of electrical injury cases that occurred in each district and city among the population and consumer personnel for 2003-2022.

The development and implementation of measures to reduce electrical injuries makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 8 and other SDGs.

On December 2, 2022, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the National contest «Entrepreneur of the Year» based on the results of activities for 2021 was held in Minsk.

The competition was held in five nominations: «Successful start», «Sustainable success», «Effective business in the production sector», «Effective business in the service sector», «Effective individual business». Based on the performance indicators of the contest participants, 34 winners from the regions and the city of Minsk were determined.

The National Competition «Entrepreneur of the Year» contributes to the development of entrepreneurial initiative and stimulation of the business activity of the population, which makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 8 and other SDGs.

December 3 is celebrated annually as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which aims to raise public awareness of disability issues, as well as draw attention to the benefits of an inclusive society.

In the Republic of Belarus, there are fewer and fewer barriers for people with disabilities. A significant step along this path was the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Belarus «On the rights of persons with disabilities and their social integration», which will enter into force in January 2023.

The law implements a comprehensive approach that involves the creation of an inclusive universal environment for people with disabilities.

The main changes envisaged by the Law «On the rights of persons with disabilities and their social integration» include:

  • introduction of a new type of social service institutions – centers for social rehabilitation and habilitation of the disabled, as well as the possibility of opening social rehabilitation and habilitation departments based on boarding schools;
  • increase in the period of adaptation to work;
  • job quotas;
  • work will continue to create an accessible environment – it is planned to fully equip 8 thousand social infrastructure facilities by 2025;
  • the need to obtain qualifications for sign language interpreters is introduced, etc.

The formation of an inclusive society and the creation of a universal environment for people with disabilities makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10, 11 and other SDGs.

Every year on December 5, International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development is celebrated. The theme for 2022 is «Act Together Now».

The importance of volunteering and the need for its development is noted by the National Strategy of the Republic of Belarus «Active Longevity – 2030». Currently, more than 3.2 thousand «silver» volunteers work in social service institutions.

In order to exchange experience and best practices of the volunteer movement in the Republic of Belarus, regional gatherings of volunteers of the «silver» age will be held. On December 5, 2022, gatherings will be held in Vitebsk, Gomel, Brest, Grodno, Minsk regions and Minsk, on December 9, 2022 in Mogilev region.

Holding gatherings of «silver» volunteers will make an important contribution to the development of the country’s volunteer movement, as well as to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.
