Republican action «Respect, Care, Responsibility» is taking place in Belarus

About 1.5 million citizens aged 65 and over live in the Republic of Belarus. Caring for people of retirement age is one of the priority tasks for the state. The country has created conditions to support the older generation, fully realize its potential, increase the duration and quality of life.

Every year on October 1st is celebrating the Day of the Elderly in Belarus. In 2022, on the occasion of the Day of the Elderly, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus approved the action plan of the republican action «Respect, Care, Responsibility». The action is aimed at drawing public attention to the issues of support by children of their elderly parents.

Creating conditions for the participation of older people in the life of the country contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On October 3, 2022, the international business game «Beginner Farmer» was launched, organized by the Belarusian Republican Youth Union with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.

The main task of the international business game «Beginner Farmer» is to identify and support talented young people, to involve them in the process of developing and implementing business projects aimed at creating and developing agricultural production.

Students of institutions of general secondary, secondary specialized education, students, undergraduates and graduate students of institutions of higher education, young people with at least three years of personal subsidiary farming experience and entrepreneurs operating in the agro-industrial complex are invited to participate in the business game. Teams of up to five people aged 14 to 35 are allowed to play.

Business projects will be considered in such categories as animal husbandry, crop production, agricultural cooperation, free topic.

Holding a business game “Beginner Farmer” will help develop young people’s business planning skills, develop management decisions, which will contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 8 and other SDGs.

On September 28, 2022, in the village of Gorbatsevichi, Bobruisk District, the House of Assisted Living «Care» of the state social service institution «Kamensky psycho-neurological boarding house for the elderly and disabled» was opened.

House «Care» is a two-story cottage for the simultaneous residence of 9 people, containing conditions for the development of independent living skills for people with intellectual and physical disabilities and equipped with seven bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, bathrooms, showers. At the moment, 9 women aged 27 to 53 live in the house.

Creating opportunities for self-realization of each person makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goal 10 and other SDGs.

On October 27, 2022, the Belarusian State University will host the III International Conference «Digital Transformation – a Step into the Future».

The main topics of the conference are technological innovations, digital integration of science, education, culture and the industrial sector, personnel, managerial and socio-economic problems of digital transformation, digital finance, accounting technologies, economic security, information security, etc.

Young scientists are invited to participate, regardless of the place of study and work. The application for participation in the conference must be sent to eco_games@bsu.by by October 20, 2022.

The holding of the international conference «Digital Transformation – a Step into the Future» contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

On September 22, 2022, an international conference on the development of social services, including the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, was held online.

The event was attended by representatives of state bodies and organizations in the field of healthcare, education and social and labor spheres of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Interstate Statistical Committee, the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. . Masherova.

During the conference, innovative approaches and methods in the system of social services, models of raising and educating children with developmental disabilities, current trends in medical and social expertise, topical issues of rehabilitation and observance of the rights of people with disabilities, the development of social inclusion, etc. were discussed. At the end of the event, a Resolution was adopted on the development of social services, including the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

The development of the system of social security and support for people with disabilities makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10 and other SDGs.

From September 19 to September 30, 2022, the preventive campaign «Decade of Cybersecurity» is being held in the Mogilev region.

The main goal of the action is to increase the level of digital and information literacy of the population, basic skills to protect personal information, as well as to reduce the number of cybercrimes.

Countering cybercrime contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goal 16 and other SDGs.

On September 26, 2022, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank launched the republican educational project «Sustainability Lessons» for students in specialized classes of pedagogical orientation.

The project involves holding weekly online sessions with digital lessons about the Sustainable Development Goals, after studying which the participants will be able to independently conduct their first «sustainable» lessons and introduce the Sustainable Development Goals to students in their schools and gymnasiums.

The final stage of the project will be the holding of the republican competition «Young friends of the SDGs».

The implementation of the republican educational project «Lessons of Sustainable Development» will make an important contribution to the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.

On September 26, 2022, a meeting of the Public Advisory (Expert) Council for the Development of Entrepreneurship of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus will be held to discuss the project Standardization Development Strategy of the Republic of Belarus, which will complement the current Standardization Development Strategy of the Republic of Belarus for the period up to 2030.

The development of a project Standardization Development Strategy for the short term is caused by the need to respond in a timely manner to modern challenges and changing markets and provides for the specification of the goals and objectives of standardization.

The document provides for the introduction of new standards based on international standards, the development of standardization for export, the reduction of standards development time, the transition of individual standardization processes to a digital format, the creation of a digital platform «Standardization», etc.

On September 28, 2022, Minsk will host the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Prospects for the development of tourism in modern conditions: global trends and regional contexts», timed to coincide with World Tourism Day.

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27th. The theme for 2022 is «Rethink Tourism», which calls for using the forced pause to not only recover from the crisis, but also to emerge from it better and more resiliently.

For World Tourism Day, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus has prepared a Statistical Review, which contains information on tourism activities in Belarus for 2021.

On September 21, 2022, within the framework of the Belarusian Industrial and Innovation Forum 2022, the International Industrial and Practical Conference «Investing in a smart industry: how much does it cost to create a smart factory» was held, organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus.

The conference was attended by more than 150 representatives of government agencies and organizations, manufacturing businesses, business and scientific and educational communities from all regions of the country.

The conference «Investing in a smart industry: how much does it cost to create a smart factory» has become an effective dialogue platform for exchanging experience and ensuring the consolidation of the professional community interested in the digital transformation of the real sector of the economy and the formation of a smart industry in Belarus.
