UN donates a batch of oxygen concentrators to Minsk Regional Hospital to fight COVID-19

On September 22, 2022, a batch of oxygen concentrators was transferred to the Minsk Central District Hospital as part of the project «Supporting the operation of the architecture for managing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the Republic of Belarus – 3», funded by UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA in the Republic of Belarus and implemented in partnership with the National Coordinator for the achievement SDG and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. Oxygen concentrators produce up to eight liters of oxygen-air mixture per minute and are equipped with two mixture outlets. Equipping the hospital with such devices is especially important during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The use of an oxygen concentrator allows you to remove the symptom of hypoxia, enrich the blood with oxygen, improve the functioning of the immune system, improve the functioning of blood vessels, the heart, which is very important for patients – adults and children in serious condition.

The event for the transfer of equipment was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Yury Ambrazevich on behalf of the National Coordinator for the achievement of the SDGs, UN Resident Coordinator Joanna Kazana-Vishnevetsky, UNDP Resident Representative Alexandra Solovieva, UNICEF Deputy Representative Gabriella Yvonne Akimova, Head of the UNFPA Office in Belarus Olga Atroshchenko, as well as the chief doctor of the Minsk Central District Hospital Garik Barsamyan and the deputy head of the health department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Sergei Sikorin.

On September 19-23, 2022, the student «SDG-Forum» organized by the Youth Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals is being held at the Belarusian State University.

The program of the Forum includes thematic lectures, workshops on eco-labeling, proper sorting of waste, inclusive etiquette in education, SDG quizzes on social and environmental issues, an intensive on gender equality, a scientific and practical round table on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and other events.

The holding of the «SDG-Forum» will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.

An international initiative called European Mobility Week was first launched in 2002. The main goal of the action is to remind the population about environmental safety and the importance of the contribution of each person to the cause of nature protection.

From September 16 to September 22, 2022, quests, promotions, master classes, competitions, bike rides, thematic excursions will be held in the Republic of Belarus. The week of mobility will end with the environmental campaign «Car-Free Day «Belarus for Clean Air!», which will be held on September 22, 2022.

The reduction of atmospheric emissions makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 12, 13 and other SDGs.

Every year on September 16, the world celebrates the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

The Republic of Belarus makes an important contribution to the protection of the ozone layer. Equipment operating on ozone-depleting substances has been decommissioned in the country, ozone-friendly technologies have been introduced, restrictions on the use of ozone-depleting substances have been introduced, which contributed to the introduction of new energy-efficient equipment and the production of environmentally friendly and competitive products, and the import of ozone-depleting substances has been stopped.

Reducing and phasing out the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13 and other SDGs.

September 16-25, 2022 the Global Week of Action #Act4SDGs in support of the Sustainable Development Goals held all over the world. The UN Action Campaign aims to engage the public to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs with the goal of 1 billion events by 2030. In 2022, the campaign focuses on the key themes «Climate, Justice and Peace».

Join the millions of people around the world who are taking action towards the SDGs to show that we can #FlipTheScript for people and the planet. The #FlipTheScript campaign provides a communication framework — social media resources, videos, and out-of-home manifestations aimed at introducing people to the SDGs in a dynamic and engaging way.

Anyone can take part in the Global Action Week by organizing an action and documenting it with photos and videos using the hashtag #Act4SDGs. All actions carried out during the Global Week will be recorded and visualized on the SDG global map.

The Global Week #Act4SDGs is a collective call for everyone to take decisive action and make a plan to use the next ten years to achieve all of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On September 8-9, 2022, the VIII Republican Scientific and Practical Conference «Creating healthy and safe working conditions. Prevention of industrial injuries».

The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, managers and specialists in labor protection, representatives of state oversight bodies, as well as enterprises – the Belarusian Railway, JSC «Minsk Automobile Plant», JSC «Minsk Tractor Plant», JSC «Naftan», JSC «Integral», etc.

During the conference, the participants discussed the issues of creating healthy and safe working conditions, preventing industrial injuries, the main directions for improving labor legislation and labor protection, and shared their practical experience in organizing safe working conditions.

The creation of healthy and safe working conditions contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 8 and other SDGs.

On September 9, 2022, Minsk hosted the International Economic Cooperation Forum, organized by the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Minsk City Executive Committee.

Representatives of state bodies, public and private enterprises, as well as delegations from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Pakistan, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, China, and Vietnam took part in the forum.

From September 7 to 10, 2022, the International Scientific Conference «Computer Data Analysis and Modeling» was held at the Belarusian State University.

The scientific event was attended by more than 80 scientists from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, USA, Vietnam and Iran, as well as domestic and foreign companies developing software in the field of computer data analysis.

The main goal of the conference was to expand international cooperation, exchange of experience and advanced achievements in the field of theory and computer methods of data analysis, statistical modeling and software, development of new methods and programs in the field of economics, banking, medicine, technology, genetics, information security.

The holding of the scientific conference «Computer analysis of data and modeling» will make an important contribution to the development of a number of priority scientific areas, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 17 and other SDGs.

September 10, 2022 within the framework of the Festival of Science-2022 Belarusian State Pedagogical University. Maxima Tanka and the Youth Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals organized an interactive platform «SDGs: Mission Possible».

By participating in thematic games and quests, visitors to the interactive platform got acquainted with the rules for holding sustainable events, learned how to explain to their children what sustainable development is, and how to change their lifestyle and develop eco-friendly habits.

The organization of an interactive platform on the topic of sustainable development contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.
