The contest of creative works «Right to Childhood» takes place in Belarus

The Ministry of Justice and the main departments of justice of the regional and Minsk city executive committees are holding a republican competition of creative works «The Right to Childhood» in order to educate the population on the legal protection of children, as well as to form legal awareness among children and youth.

Works prepared by children under 16 years of age are allowed to participate in the competition in the following nominations:

  • the rights of the child;
  • social protection of families and children by the state;
  • protection of the rights of orphans and children left without parental care;
  • the rights of children with disabilities;
  • child’s responsibilities;
  • «The history of my family in the history of the country». 

Entries are accepted until 15 July 2022.

Holding the contest «The Right to Childhood» contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 10, 16 and other SDGs.

From June 26 to June 30, 2022, an intensive workshop «Creating eco-projects: searching for ideas and ways to implement them» takes place in Minsk in order to involve children and youth in activities to preserve natural resources and protect the environment.

The main objectives of the event are:

  • raising students’ awareness of problems and obtaining new knowledge in the field of ecology;
  • development of students’ competencies in the field of ecology;
  • obtaining social design skills and practical experience in presenting projects aimed at improving the state of the environment;
  • development of specific projects;
  • exchange of experience with like-minded people.

Conducting an intensive workshop «Creating eco-projects: searching for ideas and ways to implement them» makes an important contribution to the formation of an environmentally oriented consciousness and behavior of young people, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 12, 13, 15 and other SDGs.

In 2021, the regional and Minsk city executive committees monitored the cluster development of the regions and the city of Minsk, which showed that Belarus has the potential to create and develop 32 cluster initiatives: 8 active, 6 emerging and 18 potential.

All information about the possibilities of cluster development in Belarus is reflected on the Cluster Map. The map is an official guide in the field of cluster development of the Belarusian economy, which allows you to get a visual idea of the potential of cluster development, assess the level of business self-organization, its readiness for its own consolidation, cooperation and system integration with the sectors of science and education.

The formation of clusters makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 10, 11 and other SDGs.

On June 24, 2022, a round table on the topic «Business and Women» was held at the Administration of the Moskovsky District of Minsk.

The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Entrepreneurship, the Belarusian Union of Women, Belinvestbank, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and representatives of business communities.

During the round table, the participants discussed the issues of motivation, a step-by-step strategy for starting a business, the implementation of a business plan and emerging obstacles, and also received advice on how to minimize or avoid the difficulties faced by novice entrepreneurs.

Holding the round table «Business and Women» contributes to the stimulation women’s entrepreneurship and contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 5, 8, 10 and other SDGs.

Every year on the last Sunday of June, the Republic of Belarus celebrates the Day of Youth and Students.

On June 26, 2022, in accordance with the Program of the Day of Youth and Students, various events were held in the country: open dialogues with the participation of authorities, presentation of the activities of young scientists, master classes, interactivity challenge, sports locations with entertainment.

Also, on the Day of Youth and Students, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus prepared a Statistical Review which contains information on the number of young people and their share in various fields of activity in Belarus.

The Youth and Student Day promotes the involvement of young people in the life of the country and makes an important contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On June 6, 2022, by a decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, amendments were made to the List of heavy work and work with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions, in which it is prohibited to involve women in labor.

At the moment the list contains 88 positions of the names of professions. With the adoption of the decree, women are allowed to work:

a car driver for intercity passenger transportation on buses with more than 14 seats and trucks with a carrying capacity of more than 5 tons (dump trucks 2.5 tons);

at foundry works (as a moldmaker-assembler, a foundry worker for vacuum, centrifugal-vacuum and centrifugal casting, a modeller for epoxy resin models, a block filler);

for a number of professions in the production of pulp, paper, cardboard and products from them;

for some professions of workers in the production of oil and gas, the extraction and processing of peat, powders from non-ferrous metals, alcohol and vegetable oil, and in other industries.

Reducing the List of hard work and work with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions will expand women’s opportunities in choosing a profession and will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 5, 16 and other SDGs.

On July 3, 2022, an eco-festival will be held in Minsk. The event will be organized by the public association «Guild of Fathers». The program of the festival provides for master classes, quests, competitions, promotions and drawings dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable consumption.

The eco-festival contributes to the promotion of an eco-friendly lifestyle, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13, 15 and other SDGs.

June 17 is annually celebrated as World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. In 2022, this day is dedicated to the theme «Let’s overcome the drought together».

In the Republic of Belarus, the tasks of preventing degradation and restoring degraded lands are defined in national strategic documents. In 2021, the country approved the National Action Plan to Prevent Land (Soil) Degradation for 2021-2026, which provides for the restoration of degraded lands, as well as the use of soil-saving technologies in agriculture. Also, in 2021, a scale for grouping Belarusian soils according to the degree of resistance to droughts and drought events was developed. In addition, in 2022, it is planned to rehabilitate more than 20 thousand hectares of drained degraded peatlands.

Prevention of degradation and restoration of disturbed ecosystems make an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goal 15 and other SDGs.

In order to popularize electric vehicles as an environmentally friendly and economical mode of transport that contributes to the formation of a comfortable urban environment, on July 17, 2022, the Day of Electric Transport was celebrated in the Republic of Belarus.

To date, there are 680 electric charging stations in the country, the number of passenger electric vehicles has reached 10,000, and the public electric transport fleet has more than 100 electric buses. In April 2021, the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Electric Transport for 2021–2025 was approved, aimed at the production and development of electric transport, as well as creating conditions for increasing the number of electric vehicles used, expanding the infrastructure of electric transport and minimizing negative impacts on the environment.

The development of electric transport makes a significant contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 9, 12 and other SDGs.

The Minsk City Executive Committee is holding an open competitive selection of innovative projects (works, events) «INNOVATION FUND-2023!».

Residents of the Republic of Belarus of all forms of ownership located in the territory of Minsk can participate in the competition. Applications for participation in the competitive selection are accepted until July 19, 2022.

As part of the competition, support can be provided to:

  • innovative projects carried out within the framework of the state program of innovative development of the Republic of Belarus;
  • research, development and development work, ensuring the creation of new products, new (improved) technologies, new services for the Republic of Belarus;
  • organization of activities and development of the material and technical base of the subjects;
  • formation of innovative infrastructure;
  • holding scientific and scientific-practical conferences, seminars, symposiums, exhibitions of scientific and technological achievements, preparation and publication of scientific, technical and scientific-methodical literature.
