Despite the decrease in the number of registered cases of COVID-19 in the world and in Belarus, the pandemic still remains a serious challenge for the inhabitants of the planet. This especially applies to the most vulnerable categories of the population, which include pregnant women. Scientific evidence indicates that pregnancy is a risk factor for more severe COVID-19. In addition, coronavirus infection can lead to pregnancy complications that are dangerous for the health of the mother and child.

To improve the quality of COVID-19 diagnostics during pregnancy and the efficiency of referral of patients with COVID-19, a batch of pulse oximeters and personal protective equipment was purchased in Belarus. The purchase was made at the initiative of the National Coordinator for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the UNDP/UNICEF/UNFPA project «Support for the functioning of the architecture for managing the process of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the Republic of Belarus-3» with financial support from UNFPA. The purchased medical goods were transferred to the Kostyukovichi Central District Hospital and the Brest Regional Maternity Hospital.
