Support for people with difficulties in understanding information is provided in Belarus

April 2 is celebrated annually as World Autism Awareness Day. On this day, attention is drawn to the need to promote the improvement of the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities, as well as providing them with equal opportunities in obtaining information and quality education.

It is especially difficult for people who have difficulties with the perception and understanding of the text to independently obtain information and understand the events taking place. Each of us can help such people. To do this, you can use the 10 basic principles of clear language, which will help to adapt any information and make it more understandable for people with comprehension difficulties.

Providing accessible information and quality education for people with intellectual disabilities is an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 10 and other SDGs.

On March 31, 2022, the Youth Ambassador of Sustainable Development Goals 7 conducted an intellectual quest «In search of affordable and clean energy» at the state educational institution «Kindergarten No. 26 in Molodechno».

With the help of creative tasks, didactic and outdoor games, the children get acquainted with the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the basics of energy saving.

On March 30, 2022, a seminar on the development of the start-up movement and small innovative entrepreneurship was held in Mogilev with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, OJSC Belagroprombank, the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, city and district executive committees, institutions of higher education, technology parks, business incubators.

During the event, the participants discussed issues of interaction in order to develop and support the start-up movement and small innovative entrepreneurship in the Mogilev region, as well as ways to involve young students and the economically active population in entrepreneurial activities.

The development of the start-up movement and small innovative entrepreneurship makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

In order to support talented youth, develop their creative abilities, as well as identify promising business ideas, the Belarusian State University is holding a competition of financial and economic start-up projects «Business Idea».

Teams of students of economic specialties of Belarusian State University consisting of up to three people are invited to participate. A business idea in the form of a report with financial and economic efficiency calculations must be sent by April 20, 2022 to the email address: eco_games@bsu.by.

The competition will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

In 2022, with the support of the Brest City Executive Committee, the educational institution «Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin» and the public association «Belarusian Geographical Society» a competition of student projects «Brest 2030: sustainable development technologies» will be held.

The competition is organized in the form of competitions for students of 9-11 grades of general secondary education institutions and institutions of additional education in Brest in the creative application of knowledge, skills and abilities in the development of projects in the field of urban development planning in the context of trends and prospects for the implementation of the Smart City concept.

The competition of student projects «Brest 2030: Sustainable Development Technologies” helps to involve students in the development of projects in the field of planning the development of Brest, and also contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11 and other SDGs.

On March 1, 2022, the project «Startup Marathon» started in Belarus. The project is aimed at developing and supporting the start-up movement and small innovative entrepreneurship of the country and is being implemented by Belagroprombank with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Innovation Fund and the business community.

Owners of a startup idea, developers of innovative technologies and existing startups can take part in the «Startup Marathon» in the following areas:

  • AgroTech;
  • Creative;
  • Fintech;
  • TechNet.

The competition program will last until November 2022 and will be held in three stages:

  • educational stage (development of a business idea, preparation of a business project model, development of a business plan);
  • acceleration stage (working out the elements of a business model to achieve the financial sustainability of the project, preparing a presentation of the project);
  • republican DemoDay (presentation of a startup).

Holding the «Start-Marathon» will contribute to improving economic literacy, promoting and developing entrepreneurial activity, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated March 22, 2022 № 161 approved the Concept of the National Biological Safety System.

The document defines the directions for the implementation of the state policy in the field of ensuring biological safety from the impact of dangerous internal and external biological factors and a set of measures taken to protect the population, animals and the environment from the impact of biological threats, including monitoring the circulation of pathogens of infectious diseases at environmental objects. environment, ensuring the functioning of the infection control system in healthcare organizations, developing programs and activities for the conservation of rare species of wild animals and plants, and other activities.

The approval and implementation of the Concept of the National Biosafety System will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 2, 3, 15 and other SDGs.

On March 22, 2022, a scientific and practical conference was held dedicated to the World Water Day. The theme of the international holiday in 2022 was the protection of groundwater.

During the conference, the participants discussed issues of assessing the state of surface and groundwater, advanced technologies for treating industrial wastewater, managing surface wastewater in settlements, the results of international cooperation in the use and protection of transboundary waters, and approaches to environmental education of citizens on the rational use of water resources and etc.

The conservation and sustainable use of water resources is an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 6, 14 and other SDGs.

On March 21, the world celebrates International Down Syndrome Day every year. Children with Down syndrome are born with the same frequency in all countries of the world – one in 600-800 newborns. Medical assistance, early intervention programs, the opportunity to receive an education and lead a social life on an equal footing with everyone else are very important for such children.

In order to harmonize the development of children with developmental disabilities, as well as to support their families, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), is developing an early intervention system and establishing early intervention centers. Today, 39 centers operate in Belarus, 5 of them are based on orphanages. 20,398 children under three years of age have already received assistance from the centers’ specialists.

The national system of early intervention is based on the principle of accessibility, is family-oriented and makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10 and other SDGs.

24 марта ежегодно отмечается Всемирный день борьбы с туберкулезом. Несмотря на все усилия, прилагаемые международным медицинским сообществом и общественными организациями, туберкулез продолжает оставаться серьезной угрозой общественному здоровью и является особо опасным заболеванием. Несмотря на то, что с 2000 года было спасено 66 миллионов жизней людей во всем мире, пандемия COVID-19 сгладила позитивный эффект этих успехов. В 2020 году впервые более чем за десятилетие был зафиксирован рост числа смертей от туберкулеза.

Всемирная организация здравоохранения высоко отмечает успехи Республики Беларусь в профилактике и лечении туберкулеза. Результаты диагностики и лечения мультирезистентного туберкулеза в Беларуси выше, чем по всему европейскому региону. Эти успехи возможны благодаря использованию новых методов лечения и высокому уровню охвата новыми препаратами, что позволяет Республике Беларусь выполнить национальную программу противодействия распространению туберкулеза и уменьшить заболеваемость и смертность и увеличить число пациентов, успешно закончивших лечение и стать одним из лидеров европейского региона по улучшению общих показателей.

Разработка и внедрение инновационных подходов в лечении туберкулеза являются важным вкладом в достижение Республикой Беларусь Цели устойчивого развития 3 и других ЦУР.
