Hearing-impaired people will be able to use a special application when learning to drive

On the basis of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Belarusian State University, with the support of the IBA Group, a special application («Surdo», Android) was created for use in practical driving training for people with hearing impairment. The authors of the application are Irina Pestrak and Elena Losik. The application translates spoken language into sign language and displays it on the phone screen.

The development and use of the application makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 10 and other SDGs.

By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus №18 of January 26, 2022, the State Investment Program for 2022 was approved, which provides for financing the construction of 157 facilities.

In accordance with the State Investment Program, in 2022 it is planned to finance the construction (reconstruction) of 18 facilities, including a vaccine production plant in the village of Dolzha, Vitebsk Region, treatment facilities of the Minsk Leather Production Association, infrastructure of checkpoints on the State Border. In total, it is planned to allocate 695 million rubles from the state budget, of which 275 million rubles will be directed to the implementation of projects in the production sector.

At the moment, 26 state programs are being implemented in the country, within the framework of which, in 2021, 17 projects for the reconstruction of healthcare facilities were implemented, 166 iron removal stations were built, 455 kilometers of water supply pipes and about 200 kilometers of sewerage were relocated, landfills for waste processing, etc. were built.

Financing the activities included in the State Investment Program and other government programs is a key element in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

On February 4, 2022, the educational institution «Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank» will host the Youth Forum «SDGs: up to 16 and older» within the framework of the Decade «Education for Sustainable Development for All».

The forum will become a platform for the inclusion of a wide range of teachers in the field of formal and non-formal education in the discussion of the implementation of the ESD methodology in preschool, general secondary and additional education in accordance with the age characteristics of pupils and students.

During the Forum, the results of the competition «Children about the SDGs» and the awards ceremony will be held. Forum participants will also be presented with an interactive exhibition of the best works of the competition and organized thematic areas.

The holding of the forum will contribute to the formation of an understanding of the ideas and values of sustainable development among children and youth and the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4 and other SDGs.

An open regional competition for innovative projects (works, events) has been announced in the Vitebsk region to be financed from the innovation fund of the Vitebsk regional executive committee in 2023.

Participants of open competitive selection can be:

  • communal property organizations and business entities whose shares or shares of authorized funds are in communal ownership;
  • scientific, design and engineering organizations of the Republic of Belarus, regardless of their subordination;
  • organizations of the Republic of Belarus without departmental subordination;
  • other organizations of the Republic of Belarus that are payers of income tax to local budgets on the territory of the Vitebsk region.

Projects that meet the following criteria can apply to receive funds from the Innovation Fund of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee:

  • organization of a technological process that ensures the average level of value added per worker, which is similar to the average level of value added per worker in the relevant type of economic activity in the European Union or exceeds this level;
  • export orientation of the innovation project (excess of export over import);
  • creation and implementation of new technologies and (or) production of new products for the Republic of Belarus and (or) the world economy.

The competition will make a significant contribution to the economic development of the Vitebsk region, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 11 and other SDGs.

In the Youth microdistrict of Bobruisk, a nursery-kindergarten №85 began its work, in which an adaptive educational and barrier-free environment has been created that ensures the satisfaction of the special educational needs of pupils with disabilities.

At the moment, 13 groups work in the preschool, including a special group for children with disorders of the musculoskeletal system and a sanatorium group for children with poor health.

Each group is equipped, taking into account the characteristics of the pupils: furniture, soft equipment, play equipment, TVs, stationary and mobile boards. In addition, the institution has a swimming pool, an elevator, and resource centers for storing methodological literature and visual aids. The medical unit is additionally equipped with physiotherapy and massage rooms. To organize the educational process, music, sports and gymnastic halls, as well as offices of a teacher-psychologist, defectologist, are equipped.

Inclusive preschool education makes a significant contribution to the formation of barrier-free thinking, the acceleration of social adaptation of children with disabilities and their integration in society, as well as the achievement of the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 10 and other SDGs.

The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, together with the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs, is holding a video contest «Economy in the Frame».

Full-time students of institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus can take part in the competition. Each student needs to record a video that reflects one of the economic topics:

  • «Successful people — a rich state»;
  • «Prices or incomes: what comes first?»;
  • «Economy of factories or economy of services – what is the future for?»;
  • «A place where a happy family lives»;
  • «Digital economy is a smart country»;
  • «Made in Belarus” — fame abroad and quality assurance»;
  • «Industrial cooperation of business — the path to success».

Based on the results of the competition, the jury will determine five winners and five laureates. The winner will be awarded a diploma and a cash prize of 5,000 rubles, the laureate — 3,000 rubles.

The competition contributes to the involvement of young people in the formation of the country’s economic agenda, raising the level of their professional orientation, and also contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8 and other SDGs.

From January 18, 2022, an updated portal for rating the quality of services and administrative procedures provided by government agencies and other organizations is available to users.

The rating assessment portal is a specialized service for citizens where they can post their opinion on the quality of work of state organizations. Based on the ratings given on the portal, a rating of such organizations is formed. It reflects the level of satisfaction of the population with the quality of services provided to them and the implementation of administrative procedures. State bodies keep a record of this information and use it in evaluating the activities of subordinate organizations and developing measures to improve the quality of their work.

To date, about 53 thousand people use the portal’s capabilities, more than 13 thousand organizations have been registered as objects of assessment, and more than 240 thousand assessments have been made.

The functioning of the portal contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16 and other SDGs.

The Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs is holding a competition for investment projects of small businesses to provide state financial support.

State financial support is provided to individual entrepreneurs and small businesses in the implementation of investment projects in the following areas:

creation, development and expansion of production of goods (works, services);

organization, development of production, sale of export-oriented, import-substituting products;

production of products aimed at energy and resource saving;

introduction of new technologies.

The competition will make a significant contribution to the development of small business, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 8, 9, 12 and other SDGs.

An automatic line for the production of fuel pellets was opened on the basis of the State Experimental Forestry Institution «Starodorozhsky Experimental Forestry». The installed equipment will allow to produce 3 tons of fuel pellets per hour. The production capacity of the line is 22 thousand tons of products per year. It is planned that the total revenue after twelve months of work will amount to 6 million rubles.

The production of biofuel from wood waste will reduce the remnants of low-quality wood, improve the quality of products, as well as reduce the amount of harmful substances emitted into the atmosphere, which will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13 and other SDGs.

The role of energy saving and energy efficiency in combination with the production of environmentally friendly energy is increasing every year in the Republic of Belarus. At the same time, special attention is paid to automation and digitalization of technological processes.

The country has 514 MW of electric capacity of installations for the use of renewable energy sources (RES). It is expected that by 2024 this figure will be about 700 MW, which is equivalent to 7% of the installed capacity of the Belarusian energy system. In the production of thermal energy, the share of renewable energy sources over the past 10 years has almost doubled from 6.1% to 11.8%. In the structure of electricity production, renewable energy sources account for 2.4%.

The construction and integration of renewable energy sources into the country’s energy system makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 11, 13 and other SDGs.
