Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin opens the specialty «Urbanology and City Management». The educational program will make it possible to form unique specialists in the following areas: urban design, urban planning and management.
The first intake will take place in autumn 2022. It is planned to recruit 20 students. The duration of training will be 4 years, after which graduates will receive a diploma of higher education with the qualification «Urbanologist. Manager».
The training of specialists in the field of urbanology and city management will contribute to the implementation of the concept of «smart city», the development of the «green» economy, as well as the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 10, 11 and other SDGs.

On January 12, 2022, within the framework of the activities of the National Action Plan for the Development of the Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025, the state scientific institution «Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» hosted a round table «Problems of modernizing the process of training, retraining and advanced training of personnel in universities, taking into account the needs of the «green» economy».
During the round table, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State Economic University, the Belarusian National Technical University, the Center for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production of the Institute of Business of BSU, the State Scientific Institution «Center for System Analysis and Strategic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» discussed the development of environmental education in Belarus and adopted a resolution reflecting the main directions for improving the education system, taking into account the interests of developing a «green» economy.
Activities to improve environmental education contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goal 4 and other SDGs.

More than 76 thousand young people are volunteers in Belarus. In order to improve the quality of training beginner volunteers, the Republican Volunteer Center, with the support of the United Nations Development Program in Belarus, developed a collection of practical materials for specialists working with volunteers in educational institutions «How to teach to help?».
The collection presents the best practices of coordinators of volunteer groups in educational institutions from all over Belarus, recommendations on the work of volunteers with vulnerable groups of the population, information on the role of volunteers in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Also, the collection contains more than 40 trainings and games for volunteer groups, with the help of which you can prepare young people for volunteer work in an interactive form.
The publication of the collection contributes to the development of a professional volunteer community, socially inclusive sustainable development of the country, and also contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 5, 10 and other SDGs.

In accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated May 24, 2008 №734 «On the State Fund for Data on the State of the Environment and Impacts on It», holders of environmental information maintain registers of environmental information of the state fund for data on the state of the environment and impacts on it.
In 2021, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection processed 44 registers of environmental information from its owners, including registers of branches of organizations to which requests were sent, including from local executive and regulatory bodies, as well as state bodies and organizations.
The formation and maintenance of a consolidated register of environmental information on the state of the environment and impacts on it contributes to the implementation by the Republic of Belarus of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.

On January 1, 2022, a republican competition was launched to reduce emissions from motor vehicles.
The competition is held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus. The procedure for organizing and holding a republican competition to reduce emissions from motor vehicles is determined by the decree of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated August 29, 2019 №27.
One of the main objectives of the competition is to mobilize the creative initiative of employees of organizations of the republic to reduce emissions of pollutants into the air from mobile sources of emissions in order to reduce the harmful effects of exhaust gases from vehicle engines on the environment and human health.
The holding of a republican competition to reduce emissions from motor vehicles is a contribution to the achievement of the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 13 and other SDGs.

The issues of creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities are an important component of the state policy of the Republic of Belarus in the social sphere.
Today, there are more than 30 thousand social facilities in the country, of which 18% are fully accessible for people with disabilities and 70% are equipped with elements of a barrier-free environment. The state program «Social Protection» for 2021–2025 defines actions to achieve the share of fully accessible social facilities at the level of 20% by the end of 2022, 23% – by the end of 2025. It is also planned to create an automated information system for accounting for the availability of social facilities — a virtual city guide, which provides the ability to build a route «without obstacles».
The creation of a barrier-free environment allows people with disabilities to integrate into the active life of society, which contributes to the achievement of the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 10, 11 and other SDGs.

On December 30, 2021 on the basis of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus the seminar «Possibilities of use and features of functioning of mining systems in the context of legal, technical and economic regulation in Belarus» took place.
The seminar was attended by experts from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the scientific community and private business.
During the seminar, participants noted the great advantages of mining systems in Belarus and identified the risks that accompany doing this business. In addition, the use of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technologies, as well as mining prospects for investment projects were discussed.
The development of mining in the Republic of Belarus will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 11 and other SDGs.
