Improving soil fertility is an important element of sustainable development of territories, food and environmental security.
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has developed a set of measures to improve the fertility and protect agricultural lands from soil degradation for 2021-2025, which includes measures to optimize the acidity of arable and meadow lands, determine the amount of liming of acidic soils and the need for lime ameliorants. The complex also describes the technological aspects of increasing the efficiency of organic fertilizers, assessed the balance of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur and determined the need for mineral fertilizers for 2021-2025.
In addition, in order to increase soil productivity and improve the quality of cultivated products, scientists of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have developed more than 20 new forms of liquid chelated micronutrient fertilizers based on organic acids. Five chemical enterprises of the country are already carrying out their industrial production.
Taking measures to increase fertility and protect against soil degradation contributes to the conservation of soil resources, their rational use and prevention of a decrease in their fertility potential, which makes a significant contribution to the achievement of the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 2, 3, 13, 15 and other SDGs.
