The Republic of Belarus is one of the ten European countries with the largest forest area. The country’s forest cover has almost doubled over the past 60 years and peaked in more than a century. 50 hectares of special forest seed plantations are created in Belarus every year.
Innovative approaches and developments are being actively implemented in the forestry industry and are used in seed-breeding centers, forest nurseries, greenhouses, as well as in «forest biofactories». Planting material with a closed root system is actively used; these plantings are more resistant to weather disasters, diseases and pests. The modernization of production facilities and the purchase of modern equipment are one of the reasons for the successful development of the forestry industry. Mechanization of processes allows avoiding many risks, increasing productivity and quality of labor.
The introduction of innovations in forestry affects the preservation of forest ecological systems and makes a huge contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 12, 15 and others.
