The program for the development of the Pripyat Polessye districts for 2025-2030 was approved in Belarus

By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 1072 dated December 31, 2024, the Program of Development of the Pripyat Polesie Districts for 2025-2030 was approved.

The program is aimed at forming a long-term basis for sustainable economic growth, as well as increasing the well-being and quality of life of the population of the Pripyat Polesie districts: Gantsevichi, Luninets, Stolin and Pinsk districts of Brest region, Yelsk, Zhitkovichi, Kalinkovichi, Lelchitsy and Petrikov districts of Gomel region.

As a basic model, the document proposes a strategy for the development of the Pripyat Polesie districts as a region of high quality of life based on three key components:

  • efficient and balanced economy;
  • physical and moral well-being;
  • comfortable living.

The document also defines indicators for achieving the goals and objectives of the Program, which are set for the end of each five-year period (2025 and 2030). The target indicators for 2030 will subsequently become benchmarks for determining the annual targets of the new five-year plan after the adoption of the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030.

The implementation of the Program of Development of the Pripyat Polesie Districts for 2025-2030 will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 8, 11, 12 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

On January 22, 2025, the National Children’s Technopark held a ceremony to honor the winners of the national contest “Volunteer of the Year – Kind Heart” according to the results of 2024.

The main task of the contest is to popularize and develop the volunteer movement in Belarus, to raise the status of a volunteer, to identify and encourage leaders of the movement who carry out public and socially significant activities.

The contest “Volunteer of the Year – Kind Heart” ran from October 1 through December 5, 2024.  In total, 76 works took part in the final of the contest. Winners were named in five categories: “Personal Contribution”, “Best Volunteer Unit”, “Best Development”, “Peer to Peer”, and “Good on Camera”. The main criteria for winning were uniqueness of experience, demand and contribution to the development of youth volunteer movement, as well as professional features of each nomination.

During the ceremony the winners of the republican contest “Youth for Clean Cities and Villages” were also awarded. The contest is held annually among youth volunteer groups with the aim to educate young people to take care of nature and to involve them in activities to improve the territories of settlements.

In total, more than 500 applications from volunteer groups of Belarus were submitted to the contest “Youth for Clean Cities and Villages”. The winners of the contest were:

  • in the nomination “The best volunteer group (camp) among students” – volunteer group “Varty” (PO PA “BRSM” State Educational Institution “Moshkanskaya secondary school named after A.K. Gorovets of Senno district”);
  • in the nomination “Best volunteer group (camp) among student youth” – volunteer group “Empire of Goodness” (PO PA “BRSM” with the rights of the RK EE “Gomel State University named after F. Skaryna”). F. Skaryna”);
  • in the nomination “Best volunteer group (camp) among working youth” – volunteer group “Energy of Life” (PO PA “BRSM” of Orshanskaya CHPP branch of Vitebskenergo RUE);
  • in the nomination “Best landscape composition” – volunteer group “Kind Heart” (PO PA “BRSM” State Educational Institution “Borisov Ecology and Tourism Center”);
  • in the nomination “Innovative forms and methods of work in the organization of environmental activities” – the project “Environmental Patrol” (PO PO “BRSM” State Educational Institution “Secondary School №78 of Minsk”).

Creation of conditions for popularization and development of volunteer activities contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.

On January 25, 2025, within the framework of the pilot initiative “Road to the future. Developing competencies in precision agriculture among preschool and school-aged children and youth”, training events “Farmer is Cool” were held in the Centers of Advanced Competencies in Agribusiness at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (Gorki) and Smilovichi State College (Smilovichi).

During the events more than 50 schoolchildren got acquainted with modern trends in agricultural production, learned what an agricultural worker does, what new technologies are used in Belarus today.

Participants noted that the events were interesting and they would like to continue learning about modern agriculture – to see how autopilot tractors work, to see agrodrones, to look into modern beehives.

The pilot initiative “Road to the future. Developing competencies in precision agriculture among preschool and school-aged children and youth” is being implemented by the Association of Franchisers and Franchisees “Belfranchising” with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the Joint Project “Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs”, funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.

The main goal of the initiative is to familiarize pre-school and school-age children with advanced technologies in agribusiness and to show that a modern worker in an agricultural enterprise is an interesting, technological and very important job.

Implementation of the activities of the initiative “Road to the future. Developing competencies in precision agriculture among preschool and school-aged children and youth” will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2, 4, 8, 12 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

In order to develop the competencies of future teachers in the field of sustainable development, popularize the ideas and values ​​of sustainable development, actively promote innovative educational practices in the activities of educational institutions of various levels, the III Republican contest of methodological materials “Teach. Promote. Act” is held in Belarus.

Pupils of pedagogical classes (grades 10-11), students of pedagogical specialties, teaching staff of educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus can take part in the contest. Participants can prepare materials methodological materials in the following nominations:

  • Educational session;
  • Extracurricular activity;
  • Media product;
  • Educational socially significant project.

From January 20 to 26, 2025, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will hold the Belarusian Science Week, dedicated to the Belarusian Science Day, which is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of January.

The Belarusian Science Week will include a number of events, including:

  • Republican conference of students “First step into science” (January 20-21). More than 700 high school students of the country will take part in the event.
  • Qualifying stage of the republican youth project “100 ideas for Belarus” (January 21). During the event, an exhibition and public defense of scientific and technical developments are planned.
  • Republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Belarusian Science Day (January 23).
  • Exhibition of achievements and the most significant results of scientific, technical and innovative activities of the Republic of Belarus.

The holding of the Belarusian Science Week will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 9 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, together with the regional and Minsk city committees of natural resources and environmental protection, holds an annual republican contest to reduce emissions from motor vehicles.

Legal entities, their separate divisions (branches), individual entrepreneurs, who own, manage, operate, lease or on other legal grounds have 25 or more units of mechanical transport vehicles, are invited to participate.

The contest is held in two nominations:

  • entities operating from 25 to 100 units of mechanical vehicles;
  • entities operating 100 or more units of motor vehicles.

Documents for participation in the contest must be sent to the Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (at the place of registration of the applicant) from February 1 to March 1, 2025.

The procedure for organizing and holding the contest is determined by the Instruction on the procedure for holding the republican contest to reduce emissions from motor vehicles, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated August 29, 2019 No. 27 and amended by the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated December 19, 2024 No. 71.

The holding of the republican contest to reduce emissions from motor vehicles contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 13 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 31, 2024 No. 1074, the Concept of Ensuring the Sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus in the Sphere of Digital Development until 2030 was approved.

The Concept reflects the essence and content of the problem of ensuring the sovereignty of Belarus in the field of digital development, the vision of the digital development of our country in the context of the rapid dynamics of digital transformations in the world, the emergence of new risks, challenges and threats to the digital development of the state.

The main objectives of the Concept are to ensure national interests in the field of digital development and to create a basis for the formation of a mechanism for ensuring the digital sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus.

It is expected that the results of the implementation of the Concept will be:

  • effective government regulation and efficient implementation of government policy in the field of digital development;
  • high degree of digitalization of the public administration system, economy, social sphere;
  • creation of favorable economic and organizational conditions for accelerated development and implementation of technological innovations to solve socio-economic problems, ensure the competitiveness of domestic high-tech products and the efficiency of their production, as well as the formation of long-term demand for these products;
  • exchange of competencies, successful practices and ICT between sectors of the economy, a high level of IT competencies of managers and employees regardless of the organization’s field of activity, digital literacy of the population, ensured by the system of training, retraining and advanced training;
  • development of scientific research in accordance with the needs of domestic industries of production and trade of ICT, ICT services, growth in the number of highly qualified scientific workers in the IT education system.

The action plan for the implementation of the Concept will be developed and approved by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus within three months.

Digital development of the state and ensuring digital sovereignty contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 9 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

The Minsk Regional Executive Committee is holding a competitive selection of events in the field of digital development and events to scale up the results of pilot projects in the field of digital development, financed from the Innovation Fund of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee in 2025-2026.

Participants of the competitive selection may be structural divisions of the regional executive committee, district and Zhodino executive committees, state organizations whose property is owned by the Minsk region or its administrative-territorial units, business entities in relation to which the Minsk region or its administrative-territorial unit may determine the decisions taken.

The implementation of projects and activities in the field of digital development contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 9 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.

The Minsk Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies is holding a Contest of Civil Initiatives.

The Contest is held to implement projects aimed at improving the quality of life of residents of the Minsk region, including the improvement of populated areas. The implementation period for civil initiatives is 2025.

Citizens who have reached the age of eighteen and reside in the territory of the relevant administrative-territorial unit, with the support of district or city Councils of Deputies, can initiate projects. The executors of initiatives may be legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, and initiators who implement the initiative in full or in part.

Civil initiative projects for participation in the Contest will be accepted until January 27, 2025.

The Contest of Civil Initiatives will contribute to the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
