From April 8 to April 17, 2024, in order to attract the attention of the population to the problem of offenses in the sphere of family and household relations, the republican preventive action «Home Without Violence!» will be held in Belarus.
Today in Belarus there are 146 territorial centers of social services for the population, 2 city centers of social services for families and children (in Gomel and Minsk), 134 crisis rooms. On the websites of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus and the Committees on Labour, Employment and Social Protection there is a section «Prevention of Domestic Violence». In order to educate people with intellectual disabilities about the problem of violence against women and children, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has developed the manual «Domestic Violence Risk Assessment in «Clear Language».
The campaign «Home Without Violence!» contributes to the implementation of the National Plan for Gender Equality of the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In order to create a favorable business environment for the development of entrepreneurship in Belarus, the State Program «Small and Medium Enterprises» for 2021–2025 is being implemented.
The implementation of the State Program activities helps to stimulate the initiative of citizens and strengthen the potential of domestic business, including women’s entrepreneurship, as one of the key points in the development of small and medium-sized businesses. Today, the level of women’s involvement in the business environment in Belarus is 36.4%, which is 4.4% higher than in 2023.
In addition, the State program provides citizens with wide access to support services and financing for small and medium-sized businesses. In 2021-2023, the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs financed 114 SME projects worth about 19 million rubles, more than 70 contact and cooperation exchanges were organized and conducted. Over the past three years, the volume of lending to business entities by the Development Bank, Belarusbank, Belinvestbank and Belagroprombank exceeded 29 billion rubles.
The implementation of the activities of the State Program «Small and Medium Enterprises» for 2021–2025 contributes to the development of entrepreneurial activity, increasing the competitiveness of regions and contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 11 and other SDGs.

On March 28, 2024, an information seminar on the Competition of Pilot Initiatives on the Sustainable Development Goals was held in Vitebsk.
The event was attended by over 90 people, of which more than 80% were women. The seminar was joined by representatives of the Vitebsk regional and district executive committees, educational institutions, social services, healthcare, science, culture, public organizations working in the field of providing humanitarian assistance, popularizing sports for people with disabilities, as well as private companies in the fields of tourism, banking and farming, online education.
During the seminar, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) team presented the Regulations on the Competition, requirements for pilot initiatives on the SDGs, and also demonstrated the process of submitting applications for the Competition through a specially created platform sdgidea.by. A prerequisite for holding a competition is the creation of equal opportunities and fair access to resources and expertise for all applicants, regardless of their social status, cultural characteristics or other factors.
The UNDP team, together with representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), presented the experience of localizing the SDGs in Belarus, as well as potential directions for future pilot initiatives in the context of 4 accelerators to achieve the SDGs in the Republic of Belarus.
The information seminar was organized by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee together with UNDP within the framework of the international technical assistance project «Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs» with financial support from the Russian Federation.

Every year, as part of the Financial Literacy Week, CJSC «VTB Bank (Belarus)» conducts training sessions for schoolchildren throughout Belarus.
In 2024, classes were held from March 18 to 24 and were organized in 20 schools in the country: Minsk and regional centers, Bobruisk, Baranovichi, Pinsk, Orsha, Mozyr, Soligorsk, Lida, Polotsk, Svetlogorsk, Krichev, Bykhov and Shklov.
Almost 800 schoolchildren in grades 3-11 took part in these classes. Students tried themselves in the role of bank employees and checked documents and banknotes for authenticity. For students, events were held with an emphasis on how to avoid becoming a victim of scammers, including on the Internet. The classes were held in the form of interactive lessons with educational quizzes.
Educational activities for schoolchildren help the younger generation gain useful knowledge in matters of financial literacy and rational use of money, which makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 8 and other SDGs.

In Belarus, quite a lot of attention is paid to the improvement of courtyard areas. Work is being carried out in two directions. Work is being carried out in two directions. The first is complex current repairs, which are carried out in courtyards where major renovations of residential buildings have been completed, and include repair of road surfaces and pedestrian connections, repair or replacement of children’s and play sports equipment, small architectural forms, work on caring for flora objects, restoration of damaged green areas, etc. The second direction is current repairs, which are carried out in courtyard areas based on the results of inspections of the housing stock in the autumn and spring periods.
At the moment, Minsk is the leader in the improvement of local areas. More than 50% of the total volume of work is being implemented in the capital – 2,440 yards have been renovated since 2021, and about 1,000 more will be renovated by the end of 2025. By 2024, it is planned to renovate 864 courtyard areas.
Repair and improvement of courtyard areas makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 15 and other SDGs.
