From September 24 to 30, 2023, in order to identify and support talented children and youth and develop their interest in scientific and technical activities, the Scientific and Technical Creativity Competition of Students «Talents of the ХХI Century» was held at the educational institution «National Children’s Technopark».
About 300 students from educational institutions aged 14-18 from Belarus and Russia took part in the competition.
The Competition program included the work of scientific sections in such areas as «Technical design», «Electronics, telemechanics and communications», «Robotics, automation and intelligent systems», «Scientific research, experiment», «Astronomy and cosmonautics», «Multimedia technologies», «Programming and Computer Science».
In each section of the competition, winners were determined who received diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees. Two absolute winners were also named – winners of the Grand Prix of the competition.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, the Volunteer Center of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics is implementing the «IT-Inclusion» project, aimed at creating an interactive learning and socializing space for children with special needs.

On October 5, 2023, a round table on the topic: «Environmental safety of the Republic of Belarus. «Good» and «bad» plastic» will be held in Minsk.
The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Belarus, State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, OJSC «Belresursy», Belarusian Republican Union of Consumer Societies «Belkoopsoyuz», State Institution «Operator of Secondary Material Resources», Belarusian Production and Trade Concern of the Forestry, Woodworking and Pulp and Paper Industries.

From September 25 to 30, 2023, within the framework of the international technical assistance project «Strengthening the scientific and educational potential of the Republic of Belarus in the field of collection, analysis and use of demographic data to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals», an international school on applied demography of the CIS countries was held at the Belarusian State University.
The event was attended by students of economic and geographical specialties from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The training program included lectures on the socio-economic consequences of demographic development, the influence of the demographic factor and its consequences for society, monitoring and evaluation of social policy, the use of GIS technologies in applied demography, etc.
Conducting an international school on applied demography in the CIS countries promotes the exchange of experience in the field of demography, which will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The state policy of Belarus towards citizens 65+ is aimed at creating conditions for an active and decent life.
To identify the needs of the retirement age population in 2023, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences conducted a social study. The study involved 601 respondents of retirement age. The survey was conducted in all regional cities and the city of Minsk, district cities and rural settlements.

From September 28 to October 10, 2023, the State Committee for Science and Technology, together with the Belarusian Innovation Fund and the Minsk City Technopark, are conducting a series of online seminars to improve entrepreneurial literacy «Business Start».
The purpose of the seminars is to popularize the Republican Competition of Innovative Projects, develop the startup movement in the Republic of Belarus, as well as increase entrepreneurial literacy.
During the online seminars, issues of preparing a feasibility study for an innovative project, drawing up a financial model, business planning, marketing, effective presentation, confident presentation, finding financing, as well as the possibility of implementing a project on the basis of the Minsk City Technopark will be discussed.

On September 26-28, 2023, the Belarusian Industrial and Innovation Forum was held in Minsk.
More than 100 organizations from Belarus and Russia exchanged experience in introducing digital technologies in industry and demonstrated equipment, innovations, scientific and technical developments for industrial production.
The forum program included an exchange of subcontracts in industry, exhibitions of technologies and innovations in industry and production, as well as a forum on the digital transformation of the real sector of the economy «Smart Industry» to discuss principles, strategies, roadmaps and projects for the implementation of digital technologies in industry at corporate, national and interregional levels.
The holding of the Belarusian Industrial and Innovation Forum contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11 and other SDGs.

As part of the «One District – One Project» project, 24 investment projects are being implemented in the Vitebsk region, involving the creation of 710 new jobs. More than 120 jobs are planned to be created in food production, 60 – in organizations producing vehicles and clothing.
The main areas in which projects are being implemented are the food, woodworking and metallurgical industries, the production of chemical products, and mechanical engineering. In 2023, 2 projects have already been completed. Four more projects are planned to be completed by the end of the year. A list of investment projects for 2024 has been compiled. It is proposed to include 28 projects: 13 carried over from the current year and 15 new.
The implementation of investment projects within the framework of the «One District – One Project» project contributes to the development of the districts and the Vitebsk region as a whole, which contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 11 and other SDGs.

In Belarus, special attention is paid to increasing business and investment activity and creating sustainable growth points for the regional economy.
To reduce interregional differentiation and give additional impetus to the implementation of projects in the regions, work has been done in Belarus to reduce existing barriers for investors: construction procedures have been simplified, land relations have been improved, investment conditions have been expanded, the mechanism for starting the implementation of investment projects has been simplified, the Law of the Republic of Belarus «On Investments» has been updated.
Also, the country is working to develop industrial sites in the regions. To date, 40 sites have been selected in the «80 thousand plus» cities – Baranovichi and Pinsk. On their basis, industrial parks are created with small budgetary participation and the involvement of private investors as managers.
