On September 18, 2023, National Coordinator for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Valery Belsky took part in the Leaders’ Dialogue «Increasing the scale of action on key transitions to accelerate progress in achieving the SDGs» within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit in New York.
In his speech, the National Coordinator noted that Belarus is committed to global efforts to ensure sustainable development. The goals of the 2030 Agenda are incorporated into the national planning system. With the participation of the UN, an effective structure for coordinating this work has been created. The country has made impressive progress in achieving the SDGs – almost 80% of commitments have been fulfilled.

On August 29, 2023, on the eve of the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals Summit, a youth dialogue «Youth Vision of the SDGs in Belarus» was held.
During the dialogue, young people conducted a SWOT analysis of the implementation of the SDGs in Belarus, with an emphasis on opportunities in accordance with 4 SDG accelerators: «green transition to inclusive and sustainable growth»; «focus on future generations»; «digital transformation and social innovation»; «gender equality in society».
The dialogue participants completed a survey about their vision of success in achieving the SDGs in Belarus and the opportunities for young people to contribute to achieving the SDGs.

On September 21-22, 2023, the XVII Gomel Economic Forum, organized by the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, will take place in Gomel.

The issue of preventing biological threats is currently quite relevant for the world community. It is necessary to fully assess the degree of danger and use all opportunities and resources to take measures to prevent them. In the draft updated Concept of the national biological safety system, this issue is highlighted in a separate section.
To increase the efficiency of coordination of activities in the field of biological safety, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus initiated the creation of the Council on Biological Safety under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. The Council will coordinate the work of government agencies and other organizations ensuring biological safety.
The establishment of the Biosafety Council will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the Republic of Belarus.
Resolution of the Council of Ministers of September 8, 2023 № 592 approved the project «Promoting the implementation of technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Mogilev region of Belarus».
The project provides for the implementation of a set of organizational and technical measures for the transition to new production approaches, the introduction of information technologies into industry, the automation of business processes and the dissemination of artificial intelligence.
The implementation of the project «Promoting the implementation of technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Mogilev region» will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 11 and other SDGs.
On September 21, 2023, the educational institution «Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank» will host the educational quest «Sustainable Development Goals: The Path Forward». Teams of university students will be able to take part in the quest. To participate, you must register by September 20, 2023.
Conducting the educational quest «Sustainable Development Goals: The Path Forward» will provide an opportunity to deepen the understanding of the ideas and values of the SDGs, look at the capabilities and functions of various university structures through the prism of the Sustainable Development Goals, and develop ideas for your own socially significant initiatives aimed at involving society in the implementation of key provisions The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On September 14-15, 2023, the conference «Women’s Business. International integration. Innovative development» is being held in Minsk to discuss current issues of interaction between government bodies, public organizations and women entrepreneurs.
The central event of the conference is the holding of an international exchange of subcontracts among entrepreneurs in the field of industry, pharmacy, medicine, food industry, logistics, agriculture, consulting, and business education.
Supporting women’s entrepreneurship contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 5, 8, 10, 17 and other SDGs.

From 15 to 25 September 2023, the #Act4SDGs Global Week of Action will take place around the world. Campaign organized by the UN aims to unite people to accelerate achievement of the SDGs and aims to achieve 1 billion sustainable development actions by 2030. In 2023, Global Week of Action will focus on climate, peace and justice, sustainable food systems, gender equality and inclusion.
Anyone can take part in the Global Sustainable Development Action Week using the hashtag #Act4SDGs. All activities carried out during the Global Week will be recorded and visualized on the global SDG map. In 2022, 142 million such events and promotions were implemented worldwide.
September 7 is International Clean Air Day for Blue Skies. This day highlights the importance of clean air and the urgent need for measures to improve air quality.
In Belarus, in order to provide up-to-date environmental information, including on the state of atmospheric air, the National Environmental Monitoring System operates.
To improve the quality of atmospheric air, systematic work is being carried out on the construction, reconstruction, modernization of gas treatment plants, the introduction of the best available technical methods, transport fleets are being updated, electric transport is being developed, etc.
The implementation of measures to reduce air pollution makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13 and other SDGs.
