The draft circular economy development strategy is undergoing public discussions

From September 8 to 18, 2023, public discussions are being held on the draft resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus «On the National Strategy for the Development of a Closed-Cycle Economy (Circular Economy) of the Republic of Belarus for the Period until 2035».

The document contains 8 chapters and represents a concept for building economic activity that involves introducing the principles of transition to a resource-efficient and low-carbon economy, aimed at reducing the consumption of all types of raw materials and fuel and energy resources and maximizing the use of waste.

The adoption of the National Strategy for the Development of a Circular Economy of the Republic of Belarus for the period until 2035 is an important contribution to the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period until 2030.

On September 9, 2022, the International Forum of Economic Cooperation was held in Minsk, organized by the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies, state-owned enterprises and private companies, as well as delegations from 21 countries.

The forum program included negotiations, a plenary session and two panel sections, during which participants discussed the development of industrial cooperation in priority types of economic activities, food security, etc.

The holding of the International Economic Cooperation Forum contributed to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 2, 8, 9, 12, 17 and other SDGs.

On September 7, 2023, the Municipal Unitary Enterprise «Minskvneshtorginvest» and the Municipal Unitary Enterprise «Vitebsk Regional Marketing Center» signed a cooperation agreement aimed at creating a favorable business environment in the regions.

The document involves the joint development, implementation and promotion of innovative and partnership projects, information interaction, provision of mutual services, resolving investment issues and a number of other measures, the implementation of which will allow enterprising citizens to realize their business potential.

Creating conditions for enhancing entrepreneurial initiative and unlocking the potential of citizens makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 10 and other SDGs.

The competition «100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» is being held in Belarus.

The competition is open to candidates of science working in organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus under the age of 35 and doctors of science under the age of 45 as of January 1, 2024, who received an academic degree before the age of 30 and up to 40 years, respectively.

To participate in the competition, you must fill out the application form by October 30, 2023.

The competition «100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

To support and develop student initiatives, on September 7, 2023, a forum of opportunities for future entrepreneurs «Space Day» was held in Minsk. About 400 students took part in the event.

During the forum, heads of large Belarusian companies in the field of education, banking services and food shared their experience in developing their business projects from the initial stage to the current state, and spoke about opportunities for developing an entrepreneurial career. Students also got acquainted with the new acceleration program «Space University», aimed at creating and promoting student startups.

The Space Day forum contributed to the creation of conditions for the implementation of youth startup projects, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Goals 8, 9 and other SDGs.

On September 6, 2023, the first information lecture was held at the Belarusian State Economic University as part of a series of events to explain the meaning and provisions of the Concept of Legal Policy.

The main goal of this information campaign is to convey the content of the Concept of Legal Policy to students and teaching staff of universities and educational institutions in the country.

The main attention in the discussions will be paid to the background of the preparation and adoption of the Concept of Legal Policy, the difference between the Concept and other similar documents, the provisions of this Concept, the possibilities of its use in the educational process, etc.

An information resource «Map of Entrepreneurship Support Infrastructure» has been launched in Belarus. The resource was developed by the United Nations Development Program in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus.

The resource will help to find information about small business incubators and entrepreneurship support centers operating in the Republic of Belarus, as well as about the support provided by these organizations regarding the implementation of entrepreneurial activities.

The functioning of the information resource «Map of Entrepreneurship Support Infrastructure» will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10 and other SDGs.

On September 2, 2023, as part of the Science Festival, the Coordination Center «Education for Sustainable Development» of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank organized a platform on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Visitors of any age could take part in the activities of the site. Among the proposed tasks: collect puzzles with symbols of the Sustainable Development Goals, create thematic collages, guess riddles about key concepts of sustainable development, take part in the games «Considerations», «Hexa», «SDG Association», «SDG: What? Where? When?» and etc.

In addition, for the participants of the festival, an interactive lecture «SDGs: a step forward» was held, where the history of the formation and values of the concept of sustainable development was presented, the principles of the methodology of education for sustainable development were revealed as the leading method of supporting and ensuring the sustainability of the development of human resources, people, organizations , regions.

On August 29, 2023, at the territorial center for social services for the population of the Borisov region, a republican seminar «Studying and improving the practice of providing sign language translation services based on the experience of the state institution «Territorial center for social services for the population of the Borisov region» was held.

The seminar brought together more than 250 participants from all over Belarus. The event program included an introduction to the activities of the TCSON in the Borisov region, the practice of providing sign language interpreter services, a video conference, quests, presentations of social projects «Significant Video Assistance» and «Organization of cultural and leisure activities, recreational activities for people with hearing disabilities», as well as a discussion of current issues of interaction between territorial centers of social services for the population and the public association «Belarusian Society of the Deaf».

The republican seminar made an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10 and other SDGs.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, the Energy Efficiency Department of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, together with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, is holding the 16th republican contest for children and youth «Energy Marathon».

The contest is aimed at developing an active social position among children towards the rational and efficient use of energy resources, respect for the environment, as well as identifying and disseminating the best practices of educational institutions in organizing energy saving.

The regional stages of the contest will be held in educational institutions of the regions and the city of Minsk until the end of 2023. The final stage of the XVII republican competition «Energy Marathon» will be held in March 2024 in the Gomel region.

The holding of the republican contest «Energy Marathon» contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 12, 13 and other SDGs.
