On May 24-25, 2023, Bobruisk hosted the Belarusian Investment Forum aimed at promoting investment opportunities in the Republic of Belarus. The forum was organized by the State Institution «National Investment and Privatization Agency» and the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee.
The Belarusian Investment Forum brought together more than 300 participants from 22 countries, including the UAE, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, China, Vietnam, Palestine, Russia, Brazil, Hungary and others.
The forum events included a plenary session, the XIV International Economic Forum «Mill of Success», sections «Import Substitution or Technological Sovereignty» and «Development Institutions: Time for Insights», an exhibition of industrial products, a conference of regional leaders «80 Plus». As part of these events, the participants got acquainted with the investment opportunities of Belarus, the current preferential regimes, resources available to foreign investors, exchanged experience in new geopolitical conditions, received information about promising economic niches and investment projects that can be implemented in Belarus, as well as free consultations and analytical materials on the topic of doing business in Belarus.
The holding of the Belarusian Investment Forum will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 10, 11, 17 and other SDGs.

On May 18-19, 2023, Vitebsk hosted the XI International Economic Forum «Innovations. Investments. Prospects». The theme of the forum in 2023 is «Creative economy – a bet on the future».
The forum was attended by delegations from more than 190 countries, representatives of various regions of Belarus, key enterprises and organizations of the Vitebsk region.
The program of the forum included holding exhibitions, expositions of scientific and technological achievements and demonstration sites, an exhibition-fair «Agro-industrial potential of the Vitebsk region». In order to expand new markets and establish long-term partnerships between representatives of business communities, a subcontracting exchange for industry, construction, agriculture, transport and logistics, IT, and education was organized within the framework of the forum. In addition, the forum participants presented their projects, discussed problematic issues, exchanged views within the framework of international conferences of scientific and technological achievements on such topics as «Achieving the goals of sustainable development of the region through building international, regional and other partnerships», «Tourism potential: development and cooperation», «Education and business: strategy of integration interaction», «Clusters, technoparks and industrial parks – drivers of regional development», etc.

On May 25, 2023, in Bobruisk, as part of the Belarusian Investment Forum, the XIV International Economic Forum «Mill of Success» was held, which presented a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the investment and innovative projects of the Mogilev region.
The forum brought together participants from more than 20 countries of the world – representatives of state authorities, chambers of commerce and industry, the diplomatic corps and well-known world companies.
The forum participants got acquainted with the projects that have already been implemented thanks to the forum in the Mogilev region, the innovative potential of enterprises and organizations, the prospects for domestic tourism, investment proposals in the field of architecture and construction, etc. In addition, an exhibition of manufacturers’ organizations of the Mogilev region and an exposition of investment proposals of the Mogilev region operated at the forum site.

On May 19, 2023, the conference «Development of the Rating Market in Belarus: Background and Trends» was held in Minsk, organized by the rating agency « BIK Ratings» together with the Association of Belarusian Banks.
The event was attended by over 50 representatives of rating agencies, government authorities, investors, financial institutions and businesses interested in developing the rating services market in Belarus.
During the conference, the participants discussed the experience of working in the Belarusian rating market, the prospects for its development and improvement, the system for regulating rating activity in Belarus, and the experience of introducing ratings into the investment process. In addition, within the framework of the discussion panel «Possibilities of implementing credit ratings in the banking system of Belarus», the participants discussed the possibilities for developing the national rating industry and exchanged proposals for introducing ratings into banking legislation and various sectors of the economy.
The implementation of the use of ratings in managing the company’s risks according to financial, environmental, social and management criteria contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 13 and other SDGs.

The Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus plans to develop an educational platform to improve the digital literacy of the population.
As part of this work, it is planned to create a modern technological basis for the implementation of projects for training (improving skills) for specialists responsible for digital development processes in government bodies and organizations in the field of information technology, ensuring accessibility for citizens of training programs to obtain new ones in demand on the labor market digital competencies and adaptation of the population to technological innovations introduced as part of digital development.
The development of an educational platform to increase the digital literacy of the population will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 9 and other SDGs.

On May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity is celebrated annually around the world. In 2023, it is held under the slogan «From Agreement to Action: Restoring Biodiversity», which coincides with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in November 2022 under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
On that day Minsk hosted a press-conference «The Role of Science in the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological and Landscape Diversity».
The Republic of Belarus is implementing the Strategy for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity and the National Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for 2021-2025. Financing of the activities of the national action plan is carried out within the framework of the State Program «Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources» for 2021-2025.
The implementation of a set of measures for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity makes a significant contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 13, 14, 15 and other SDGs.

On May 17-18, 2023, the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference «Big Data and Advanced Analytics» was held at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.
The participants were representatives of Belarus, Russia, China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Iran. During the conference, issues of the prospects for the development of smart cities in the conditions of Industry 4.0, Big Data in marketing and e-commerce, Big Data for optimizing IT solutions and other issues were considered.

May 18-19, 2023 at the EE «International State Ecological Institute named after A.D. Sakharov» Belarusian State University will host the International Scientific Conference «Sakharov Readings 2023: Environmental Problems of the 21st Century», dedicated to the impact of the technical process on the environment and the development of measures to reduce the negative human impact on nature. The conference will bring together about 250 teachers from Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The event will include a plenary session, three round tables and nine thematic sections to discuss environmental education, medical epidemiology and physics, radiation biology and radioecology, environmental chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. The participants will also discuss the latest scientific achievements in the field of energy efficient technologies and energy management, information systems and technologies in the assessment and management of environmental quality.
The International Scientific Conference «Sakharov Readings 2023: Environmental Problems of the 21st Century» will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 9, 13, 15 and other SDGs.
On May 12, 2023, the final of the XV Youth Media Festival «Voices of the Young for Sustainable Development» was held at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank.
In 2023, 217 works by students and teachers of educational institutions from all regions of the country were presented to participate in the media festival. According to the results of the expert evaluation, 21 media products were presented in the final.
The Youth Media Festival «Voices of the Young for Sustainable Development» makes an important contribution to the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Belarus.

From May 15 to May 19, 2023, the II International Youth Ecological Forum is being held in Minsk.
The purpose of the forum is to stimulate young people in the direction of generating new ideas and technologies in the field of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources, the development of educational, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between universities.
Within the framework of the forum, it is planned to hold classes on environmental and environmental educational and scientific activities of universities, on the creation of eco-tourism facilities, presentations of start-ups in the field of ecology and environmental protection and water resources, a round table on promising areas of cooperation on the theme «Forest and water resources».
