A republican action «My family is my country» is being held in Belarus to draw public attention to the family as the most important social institution.
The events of the action are aimed at popularizing measures of state support for families with children, promoting traditional family values and a healthy lifestyle, increasing the social responsibility of families for their own well-being and the creative development of society, and preserving the historical memory of the belarusian people. Among them: screening of Belarusian films in cinemas of the republic, interactive family programs with elements of a quest, thematic press conferences, interviews, forums, conferences, round tables, dialogue platforms, direct telephone lines, actions in orphanages, mass cultural and sports recreational activities and others.
Carrying out the republican action «My family – my country» will contribute to the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.

On April 26-27, 2023, a seminar «Best experience and practice of cooperation at the local level in the development of ecotourism in specially protected natural areas» was held in Rossony. The event was organized as part of the implementation of the international technical assistance project «Development of Ecological Tourism to Promote the Green Transition to Inclusive and Sustainable Growth».
The purpose of the educational seminar is the exchange of experience and the dissemination of best practices for the organization of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas (SPNA).
During the event, the participants discussed the issues of environmental education in ecotourism in protected areas, the involvement of local residents in ecotourism in protected areas, the implementation of volunteer activities in ecotourism in protected areas, got acquainted with the successful cases of the Ecocenter «Zapovedniki», the Altai Biosphere Reserve, the National Park «Sebezhsky». The participants also got acquainted with environmental and educational projects on the transboundary territory of Russia and Belarus «Reserved Lakeland».
At the end of the seminar, a declaration of partnership between the participants of the ecotourism cluster «ECO-ROSY» was signed.
The development of ecotourism in specially protected natural areas will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 11, 13, 15 and other SDGs.

April 27, 2023 at the site of the state scientific institution «Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» a seminar «Women and Intellectual Property – a Catalyst for Innovation and Creativity», dedicated to the International Day of Intellectual Property, was held.
The event was attended by representatives of state bodies and organizations of the Republic of Belarus, experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization, as well as representatives of relevant non-governmental organizations.
The discussions were devoted to the role of women in invention in the modern world, the development of entrepreneurship in Belarus, government incentives for innovation-based entrepreneurship, the impact of information and communication support in the field of intellectual property in Belarus and other relevant areas.
Also during the event, an agreement on the establishment of a Third Level Technology and Innovation Support Center on the basis of Limited Liability Company «Technopark Gorki» was signed.

On May 1, 2023, the IX Republican contest «Leader of Energy Efficiency of the Republic of Belarus – 2023» starts in Belarus.
The purpose of the Contest is to identify and popularize energy efficient products (goods, equipment, systems, technologies, buildings, etc.) presented on the market of the Republic of Belarus and allowing the most effective reduction in the consumption of fuel and energy resources.
Enterprises that make a significant contribution to the development of their region and have the potential of a leader in the field of energy and resource saving can take part in the competition. Applications are accepted until September 30, 2023.
The holding of the republican competition «Leader of Energy Efficiency of the Republic of Belarus – 2023» contributes to the exchange of experience, as well as the creation of conditions for the introduction of advanced energy-efficient, resource-saving, environmentally friendly solutions in various sectors of the economy, which makes an important contribution to the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.
On April 27, 2023, a press-conference «Innovative entrepreneurship in Belarus: priority areas of activity and development of technology parks» was held in Minsk.
During the press-conference, the participants discussed the functioning of the national innovation system, Belarusian innovative developments and scientific and technical products, the achievements of Belarusian and world science, the system of state support for innovative entrepreneurship, implemented projects, the creation of funds for the innovative development of technology parks, holding youth competitions for innovative projects, development of the startup movement, etc.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection summed up the results of the republican competition to reduce emissions from motor vehicles for 2022.

On April 26, 2023, the last batch of obsolete pesticides was sent from a warehouse near the village of Dernovichi, Polotsk region, for environmentally safe destruction. As a result, the warehouses of the Vitebsk region were completely freed from unsuitable pesticides stored there.
Prior to the implementation of the international technical assistance project «Sustainable Management of Persistent Organic Pollutants and Chemicals in the Republic of Belarus, GEF-6», the total weight of obsolete pesticides in the warehouses of agricultural organizations in Belarus was more than 1,400 tons. To date, 21 warehouses in the Vitebsk and Grodno regions have been freed from this hazardous waste – about 920 tons. There are still about 500 tons left in the Minsk region, which are planned to be transported from the country by the end of April 2024.
The elimination of persistent organic pollutants from the territory of the country makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 13, 15 and other SDGs.

Since 1986, in Belarus, systemic and comprehensive state support, international assistance from UN agencies and donors have been helping to restore the affected areas and population from the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Joint efforts help affected areas to accumulate and successfully put into practice unique knowledge in the field of regional development:
In total, since 1986, with the support of UN agencies in Belarus, more than 80 large-scale projects and programs for restoration and development have been implemented for a total amount of more than 70 million US dollars. Also, six specialized national programs with a budget of more than 19 billion US dollars were sent to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
Facilitating the transition of the Chernobyl region from recovering to sustainable development contributes to the creation of new opportunities for human development and innovation, which makes an important contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In the Republic of Belarus, special attention is paid to the issues of ensuring energy security and energy independence of the country by increasing the efficiency of the use of fuel and energy resources (FER) and replacing imported energy resources (natural gas, coal) with its own energy resources.
As part of the implementation of the state programs «Energy Saving» for 2010-2022, 327 energy sources were put into operation at local fuel and energy resources with a total thermal capacity of 1718,7 MW. The commissioning of another 62 energy sources at local fuel and energy resources with a total thermal capacity of 355,9 MW is scheduled for 2023-2025.
Currently, there are about 10,5 thousand energy sources in the republic with a total thermal capacity of 33,5 thousand MW, of which 5,6 thousand energy sources are based on local fuel and energy resources with a total thermal capacity of 6,9 thousand MW.
The implementation of projects for the construction of energy sources on local fuel and energy resources contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 11, 12 and other SDGs.

The level of digitalization of the energy complex of Belarus exceeds 60%. One of the key areas for the introduction of automation and digitalization technologies in the industry is the management of electrical networks and the construction of new digital substations.
An important area of work on the digitalization of power grid facilities is the development of Smart Grid or «smart» networks. This technology is based on the formation of a single automated system that allows you to quickly respond to changes in various parameters in real time and allows you to provide uninterrupted power supply with high economic efficiency. Pilot projects for the introduction of Smart Grid technology have already been implemented in Borisov, Bobruisk, Liozninsky, and Pinsk districts.
