The initiative of Ekaterina Telegina and her LLC “Greenweiss” is an example of women’s social entrepreneurship in rural areas. The main goal is to create a vegetable cleaning production facility to supply high-quality and fresh products to catering establishments, cafes and restaurants. The idea of LLC “Greenweiss” was supported by the Brest Local Regional Development Fund as part of an initiative on the women’s social entrepreneurship support in the Berezovsky District, implemented in partnership with national and international organizations.

    CONTENTS OF THE ACTIVITY

The main objectives of the initiative are cleaning and vacuuming vegetables such as potatoes, onions, carrots and beets. Vacuum packaging significantly increases the shelf life of products, preserves nutritional properties and freshness. This makes the company’s products in demand among catering establishments.

    KEY STEPS OF IMPLEMENTATION:

    • Market research. Conducting an analysis of consumer needs and niches that are not occupied by private business in the Brest region. The development of the idea for vacuum packaging vegetables.
    • Location determination. Selection of the Berezovsky district as the optimal location in terms of logistics, supply of raw materials and sales of finished products.
    • Purchasing and preparing premises. Purchase of a building in the v.Yastrembel, renovation and preparation for production needs. Purchase and installation of the necessary equipment for washing, cleaning and vacuum packaging vegetables.
    • Recruitment of up to 10 people for various positions due to company growth.
    • Production launch. Purchasing vegetables from local farmers. Development of product formats convenient for use by restaurants and other catering establishments.

RESULTS AND IMPACT OF THE INITIATIVE

The initiative demonstrates how small resources can be used effectively to create products that are in demand both locally and in the wider market.

Purchasing organic vegetables from local producers stimulates the agricultural sector development, providing farmers with sustainable markets.

Three jobs were created for local residents, including people with disabilities. Involvement of local residents in the project promotes socialization, a sense of belonging and contributes to overall well-being.

To expand the impact of the initiative, it is planned to increase production capacity and sales volumes. The enterprise processes one ton of potatoes and 100-200 kg of onions and carrots per day. It is planned to process up to 5 tons of potatoes in the future.
