The corresponding resolution was adopted by the UN General Assembly. The resolution calls on all countries to make efforts to support creative economy for sustainable development.
The creative economy is built on activities based on the relationship between creativity, knowledge and technology, as well as cultural values, artistic creation and cultural heritage. The creative economy is important because it generates innovative potential for sustainable development. Entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation give new impetus to economic growth and provide greater opportunities for all, including women and young people.
The creative economy can contribute to the implementation of all three pillars of sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Agenda-2030. It promotes economic growth and innovation, poverty eradication, full and productive employment and decent work for all, improves the quality of life and empowerment of women and young people, and reduces inequalities within and among countries.
