A meeting of the Advisory Council on the issues of social adaptation and integration of children with special needs of psychophysical development was held

On March 16, 2023, an off-site meeting of the Advisory Council under the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on the issues of social adaptation and integration of children with special needs of psychophysical development was held in Polotsk.

During the event, members of the advisory council, representatives of ministries, as well as the pedagogical community of the Polotsk region discussed the provision of educational institutions with qualified specialists, determining the educational route of the child, choosing an educational institution for teaching the child, providing psychological support to families raising children with autism spectrum disorders, organizing information and explanatory work among the population, etc.

Today, 237 institutions of special education operate in the system of special education in Belarus: 141 centers for correctional and developmental rehabilitation training, 48 special kindergartens, 48 special schools, special boarding schools. In institutions of special education and in the conditions of integrated training and education, about 40 thousand teachers implement the educational process, of which 11.9 thousand people – teachers-defectologists and about 1.8 thousand people – preschool educators accompanying children with autism spectrum disorders.

Providing every child equally with the right to education makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 10 and other SDGs.
