A round table was held in Gomel on the formation of inclusive attitudes towards people with disabilities in society

On November 18, 2021, a round table on the topic «Formation of inclusive attitudes towards people with disabilities in society» was held at the branch of the State Central Committee «Inclusive Culture Center».

The round table was organized by the Gomel Regional Public Association «Spinal Disabled Persons». The event was attended by representatives of regional and city authorities, the media, the council of public associations of disabled people in the region.

The round table discussed the plan for the implementation of the program «Accessible Environment – Accessible Belarus» for 2021-2025. The plan contains the following directions:

• rehabilitation of people with disabilities;
• creation of conditions for a barrier-free environment;
• the formation of inclusive relationships in society;
• defending the rights and interests of people with disabilities.

In addition, the issues of interaction with the media, labor rehabilitation of people with disabilities, interaction with territorial centers of social services for the population and centers of folk art were taken up for discussion.

More than 88.9 thousand people with disabilities live in the Gomel region. The work to create conditions for the involvement of these people in the active life of society is an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 8, 10, 11 and other SDGs.
