Additional measures to support the population have been introduced in Belarus

On September 21, 2021, a meeting was held with the participation of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the leadership of the Council of Ministers. Issues of social orientation were discussed at the meeting: support for large families, the pension system, housing construction, as well as issues related to the implementation of civic and youth initiatives.

Large families are the main demographic reference point. A package of social measures has been formed in the Republic of Belarus, which includes benefits for the birth and upbringing of children, financial assistance for housing, benefits in education and healthcare, tax, pension and labor spheres. There are more than 115 thousand large families in the country today, assistance to which will amount to at least 5 billion rubles in 2021. Also, the Head of State noted the need to increase the amount of state support for large families living in the countryside, in which at least one of the spouses works in rural areas.

The meeting discussed issues of improving the procedure and conditions for providing state support to citizens in the construction and acquisition of residential premises, including in rural areas, as well as the development of the pension system.

In addition, the direction of the work of the mechanism for the implementation of civil and youth initiatives on the ground with constant support at the level of the Council of Ministers, Parliament and local executive and administrative bodies was discussed.

Supporting certain categories of citizens, as well as the entire population as a whole, identifying their needs, responding in a timely manner to their needs contribute to improving the quality of life and well-being and makes a significant contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by the Republic of Belarus 3, 8, 10, 11 and others.
