The importance of diversifying the fuel and energy resources used by each country cannot be overestimated. The main components of Belarus’ energy security system are natural gas and nuclear energy. At the same time, Belarus has significant potential in the development of renewable energy sources. It is planned that the installed electric capacity of renewable energy sources will be about 700 megawatts by 2025. The share of primary energy production from renewable energy sources to the gross consumption of fuel and energy resources will reach the level of 7-8 percent. In the near future, Belarus is expected to increase the number of electricity generating facilities of renewable energy sources, including local fuels, improve the energy management system, as well as reduce the specific consumption of fuel and energy resources for the production of products (works, services), including the production of heat and electricity . Renewable energy contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 12, 13 and other SDGs.
