Basic social mobile tariff will appear in Belarus

In order to ensure high quality of mobile telecommunications services provided to the population, as well as to increase their availability, including in rural areas, in Belarus was made a decision to establish mandatory requirements for mobile operators for the quality and coverage of the services they provide. The corresponding Decree No. 335 “On the provision of cellular mobile telecommunications services” was signed by the President of the Republic of Belarus on August 26, 2024.

According to the Decree, mobile operators will direct part of their profits to the implementation of events and projects in the field of digital development, the implementation of investment projects, as well as the construction of new and the modernization of existing facilities, telecommunication lines, equipment and information systems. This will increase the coverage area and signal stability.

In addition, the Decree provides for the introduction of a basic social tariff for the population, the cost of which will be under state control and will be accessible to all categories of citizens.

The dissemination of communication technologies and the development of the corresponding infrastructure make an important contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 9, 10, 11 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
