Belarus contributes to the protection of consumers of digital financial services

Every year on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day is held to raise global awareness of consumer issues and ways to protect their rights. In 2022, Consumers Worldwide announced the theme of the holiday: «Fair Digital Financial Services».
To protect consumers of digital financial services, the public association «Belarusian Consumer Protection Society» plans in 2022 to:
- assess the availability of financial services for vulnerable groups of the population (people with disabilities, the elderly);
- prepare a package of specific proposals for changing consumer protection legislation (to exclude from practice the conclusion of loan agreements by third parties who are not representatives of banks);
- to teach the «basics» of financial literacy to representatives of vulnerable groups of the population through trainings.
The formation of an effective mechanism for protecting the rights of consumers of financial services, as well as increasing the digital literacy of consumers, makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 9, 10 and other SDGs.
