Belarus creates conditions for wider use of the Internet by older people

Modern technologies significantly increase the possibilities of socialization and solution of pressing issues of the older generation. According to statistics, about 40% of people aged 60 years and older use the Internet. In accordance with the National Strategy of the Republic of Belarus «Active Longevity – 2030», it is planned to increase this indicator to the level of 65% by 2030. To this end, a number of measures are being implemented in the country to improve the digital literacy of older people:

  • understandable methods of training trainers are being developed;
  • methodological materials for specialists of the social service system are published;
  • group work is carried out in the territorial centers of social services for the population;
  • booklets and guides for older people are published, etc.

Creating conditions for increasing the digital literacy of older people makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 9, 10 and other SDGs.
