Belarus defines directions for improving the national innovation system

The ability of a country to support and implement innovations, use technologies to solve social and environmental challenges determines the national dynamics of sustainable development and progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Supporting national potential in order to expand the possibilities of applying innovations and digitalization is one of the priority areas of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the UN Development Program.

The improvement of the national innovation ecosystem can be facilitated by the use of a number of innovative solutions in such areas as:

• improving the efficiency of financing innovative projects;
• improvement of the mechanism for selection of innovative projects;
• development of venture legislation;
• expansion of venture financing;
• creation of a platform for regional development and investment.

Support for innovative development plays an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11, 17 and other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
