Belarus implements a set of measures for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity

May 22 is celebrated annually as the International Day for Biological Diversity. In 2022, this day was held under the slogan «Build a common future for all life!» to recall the need for urgent action at the global, regional and national levels to transform economic, social and financial patterns in order to stabilize trends that exacerbate biodiversity loss by 2030 and allow the restoration of natural ecosystems by 2050.
The Republic of Belarus makes a great contribution to the conservation of biological diversity. In 2021, the National Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity in the Republic of Belarus for the period up to 2025 was approved and began to be implemented. The National Plan includes measures aimed at developing the system of specially protected natural areas, the conservation and sustainable use of natural ecological systems and biological diversity, the development of ecological tourism, the restoration of disturbed ecological systems, etc.
Measures for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity make a significant contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 13, 14, 15 and other SDGs.
