Belarus prepared the report on spent fuel and radioactive waste management

The Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus prepared the Eighth National Report of the Republic of Belarus on the implementation of the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.

The Report reflects the information on the efforts of the Republic of Belarus to fulfill each of the obligations noted during the consideration of the seventh National Report of the Republic of Belarus on the implementation of the Joint Convention. The Report also includes policies for spent fuel and radioactive waste management, spent fuel and radioactive waste management practices, and criteria used to define and classify radioactive waste.

Ensuring the safety of spent fuel and radioactive waste management contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 12, 15 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
