Belarus provides support to families raising children with disabilities

Today there are more than 36 thousand children with disabilities in the Republic of Belarus. The country has built a system of social protection for families raising children with disabilities.

When a child is diagnosed with a disability, the family is provided with state support in the form of disability allowances and pensions, social services are provided, including babysitting services and social respite. Also, families with children with disabilities are provided with technical means of social rehabilitation. About 250 thousand citizens receive them in the amount of more than 50 million rubles annually. In addition, there are 146 territorial centers of social services for the population in the country, which are an important link in the successive social rehabilitation work with children with disabilities.

The built-in system of social guarantees and benefits contributes to the creation of conditions for raising children with disabilities in a family environment and contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10 and other SDGs.
