On September 29, 2021, Resolution No. 553 «On the Establishment of the Nationally Determined Contribution of the Republic of Belarus to the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2030» was adopted by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
Belarus has committed itself to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 35% by 2030 from the 1990 level, as part of the implementation of international obligations to fulfill the provisions of the Paris Agreement, which regulates measures to reduce the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere from 2020.
It is planned to approve the Strategy for the long-term development of Belarus with a low level of greenhouse gases for the period up to 2050 in such sectors as industry, construction, housing and communal services, and transport.
The adoption of decisions by the Republic of Belarus to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal 13 and other SDGs.
