BSEU students studied the correlation between taxation and the SDGs

25 February 2025

On February 24, 2025, students of the Belarusian State University of Economics took an active part in the training session on the topic “Stimulating and de-stimulating effects of taxation”.

The main objective of the session was to explore the role and place of taxation in creating an institutional environment for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In the form of a business game, students analyzed regulatory taxation measures that states, including the Republic of Belarus, can undertake to mobilize domestic resources to achieve the SDGs. The students were also familiarized with ways of tax incentives to combat climate change, use clean energy, implement green industries, etc. As a result of the event, students were able to appreciate both the importance and complexity of tax instruments through case studies of specific economies, and were convinced of the need for integrated efforts and partnerships to achieve the SDGs.

Effective use of tax opportunities helps to increase the resilience of the economy and contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
