10 March 2025

In order to increase the accessibility of medical care, develop e-health, introduce modern treatment methods, and improve the quality of medical services for rural population, the Centralized Health Information System (CHIS) is being developed in Belarus.

The CHIS will be an online platform for the provision of medical services, including a health care portal, electronic medical card of the patient, clinical decision support system, patient referral and queue management system, laboratory information system, appointment, house call of a medical professional, electronic prescription, and other functional and support subsystems.

It is expected that, among other things, CHIS will contribute to the improvement of clinical decision-making, quality and efficiency of management decisions based on statistical and analytical data, creation of conditions for interdepartmental information interaction and continuing professional education in the field of health care.

It is planned to complete the development and implementation of CHIS in the activities of health care organizations in Belarus by December 2025. More details on the progress of the CHIS development can be found at the link.

The functioning of the Centralized Health Information System will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9 and the other SDGs.
