Conditions for the development of electric transport are being created in Belarus

Global electrification of transport is one of the world trends. According to forecasts by the International Energy Agency, the global fleet of electric vehicles could grow to 145 million by 2030.

The Republic of Belarus is actively involved in the development of electric transport and expansion of the necessary infrastructure. The country has developed a Comprehensive Program for the Development of Electric Transport for 2021-2025. As a result of its implementation, the number of passenger electric vehicles increased by 2.5 times in 2023. As of early January 2024, almost 9,000 electric passenger cars were registered. By 2030, their number could reach 300 thousand.

Due to the increase in the number of electric vehicles in Belarus, a network of electric charging stations is being formed. Today, there are 720 charging stations in operation in all regions. It is planned to install 200-250 stations per year.

In addition, in 2023, the share of urban passenger electric transport in the total amounted to more than 37%. By 2025, this indicator is planned to increase to 45%.

The development of electric transport helps reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 7, 12, 13 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
