Delegation of Belarus took part in the Nevsky International Environmental Congress

The IX Nevsky Ecological Congress was held on May 27-28, 2021 in St. Petersburg. The mission of the congress is to promote the formation of the international environmental security system. A delegation of the Republic of Belarus took part in the Nevsky International Environmental Congress.

Within the congress a round table “National strategies and projects in the field of ecology and environmental protection. Exchange of experience” was held. Speaking at the round table Andrey Khudyk, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, noted the country’s commitment to sustainable development and the principles of green economy, which is confirmed by its international commitments and adopted strategic documents. The main document is the National Strategy for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus until 2035. Its goal is to achieve inclusive sustainable green growth in all spheres of society. In addition, the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025 provides for the greening of industry and circular economy development. The State program “Environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources” for 2021-2025, the Strategy for environmental protection of the Republic of Belarus for the period up to 2025 and other strategies and state programs are being implemented. The priority areas of green economy in Belarus for the period until 2025 will be the development of electric transport and urban mobility, energy, including new types of clean energy, sustainable consumption and production, innovative green and digital technologies, sustainable ecological tourism.
