Electrical safety rules are taught in schools in Belarus using VR-glasses

In schools of the Mogilev region, specialists from the state institution «State Energy and Gas Supervision» are implementing the first pilot projects to teach electrical safety rules using VR-simulators.
Classes are held using the training program «Safe Home VR». Using VR-glasses, children learn in a quest format how to handle electrical appliances, the dangers of using them incorrectly in everyday life and what mistakes should be avoided. The program recreates various scenarios and demonstrates the most common situations that lead to electric shock, including connecting a hair dryer, phone charger, or washing machine to the outlet with wet hands. It is planned that in 2025 this program will be taught in schools in other regions of the country.
Teaching electrical safety rules using modern technologies will make it possible to attract the attention of young people more effectively to the problem of electrical injuries and will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9 and other SDGs.
