Implementation of the Concept of Regional Development of the Republic of Belarus discussed in Minsk

On June 8, 2022, a round table to discuss the provisions of the draft Concept of the State Policy for Regional Development of the Republic of Belarus was held at the site of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Representatives of the scientific community and government bodies discussed the main trends in regional development at the present stage, approaches to assessing the results of the implementation of the Concept, issues of attracting investments to the regions, exchanged proposals for improving the draft document.

The implementation of the Regional Development Concept includes two blocks:

• economic – budgetary transfers;
• social – comfortable living of the population.

In addition, the Concept provides for the implementation of the «Village of the Future» idea, which includes improving living conditions in 24 settlements.

The development and implementation of the Concept of the State Policy of Regional Development of the Republic of Belarus will reduce the degree of interregional differentiation, increase the level of income of the population and will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 8, 9, 10, 11 and other SDGs.
