Information strategy on active aging was developed in Belarus

26 August 2022

Today the number of elderly people in the Republic of Belarus is about 16 percent of the total population. In this regard, it is very important to form an information field in the country aimed at creating a positive image of an elderly person in society, a person with an active life position.

To this end, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations Population Fund in Belarus have developed a Communication Strategy for Active Aging (IS 65+) for 2022-2024. To raise public awareness on the topic of active longevity, from August 24 to September 30, 2022, a series of training sessions will be held in all regions of the country. A total of 14 training sessions are planned, which will be attended by about 350 specialists from state and public organizations working with older people and coordinating information work with the population.

The implementation of the Communication Strategy for Active Aging for 2022-2024 will make an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 10, 16 and other SDGs.
