International conference on the development of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas will be held in Minsk

On 2-3 December, 2021, Minsk will host an international conference «New approaches and successful practices in the development of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas as a contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals». The conference is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus with the support of the United Nations Development Program and the Government of the Russian Federation within the framework of the project «Development of Ecological Tourism to Promote a Green Transition to Inclusive and Sustainable Growth».

The conference will be attended by over 170 experts in the field of ecotourism from 11 countries: Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Representatives of environmental agencies, specially protected natural areas, NGOs, agro-ecological estates, universities from different countries will discuss various aspects of ecotourism as a driver of sustainable development of regions and as an important element of effective management of protected areas.

The conference facilitates the exchange of information and experience in the field of ecological tourism, conservation and sustainable use of biological and landscape diversity and contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 13, 15, 17 and other SDGs.
