Conducting an economic assessment of ecosystem services is aimed at assessing the state of the ecosystem and its components, reducing harmful impacts on the environment and improving its quality, justifying the development and implementation of measures to obtain benefits from the conservation, restoration and sustainable functioning of ecosystems, etc.

An economic assessment will evaluate the ecosystem service and identify the environmental, economic and social benefits that can be derived from its provision, and identify measures that can be taken to predict, minimize and/or prevent adverse impacts.

Conducting an economic assessment of ecosystem services will allow one to compare the costs and benefits of investments in the environmental complex and will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13, 14, 15 and other SDGs.
