List of banned jobs for women was shortened

On June 6, 2022, by a decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, amendments were made to the List of heavy work and work with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions, in which it is prohibited to involve women in labor.

At the moment the list contains 88 positions of the names of professions. With the adoption of the decree, women are allowed to work:

a car driver for intercity passenger transportation on buses with more than 14 seats and trucks with a carrying capacity of more than 5 tons (dump trucks 2.5 tons);

at foundry works (as a moldmaker-assembler, a foundry worker for vacuum, centrifugal-vacuum and centrifugal casting, a modeller for epoxy resin models, a block filler);

for a number of professions in the production of pulp, paper, cardboard and products from them;

for some professions of workers in the production of oil and gas, the extraction and processing of peat, powders from non-ferrous metals, alcohol and vegetable oil, and in other industries.

Reducing the List of hard work and work with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions will expand women’s opportunities in choosing a profession and will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 5, 16 and other SDGs.
