Measures are being taken in Belarus to restore and prevent the reduction of biodiversity

On May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity is celebrated annually around the world. In 2023, it is held under the slogan «From Agreement to Action: Restoring Biodiversity», which coincides with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in November 2022 under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.

On that day Minsk hosted a press-conference «The Role of Science in the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological and Landscape Diversity».

The Republic of Belarus is implementing the Strategy for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity and the National Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for 2021-2025. Financing of the activities of the national action plan is carried out within the framework of the State Program «Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources» for 2021-2025.

The implementation of a set of measures for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity makes a significant contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 13, 14, 15 and other SDGs.
