More than 60 thousand trees and shrubs will be planted in Belarus

October 28, 2023, as part of the campaign «Peaceful creative work for the benefit of a clean and green country!» The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus will hold a single gardening day. On this day, events to plant trees and shrubs, lay out parks, alleys and gardens, as well as care for already planted trees will be held in all regions of the country.
In total, within the framework of a single day of gardening, it is planned to plant more than 60 thousand seedlings of trees and shrubs: linden, maple, oak, rowan, hornbeam, pine, willow, walnut, chestnut, ash, lilac, spirea, thuja, forsythia and others.
In cities, towns, agricultural towns and villages of Belarus, the area of green areas is steadily growing. In 2023, more than 420 thousand trees and shrubs and almost 19 million flowers have already been planted, as well as more than 8.5 thousand seedlings in areas along highways. The required level of landscaping of 40% was achieved in 129 cities and regional centers of the country (97.7% of their total).
Carrying out activities to green the country’s territories makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 13, 15 and other SDGs.
