National action plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from civil aircraft operators approved in Belarus

Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated March 3, 2022 № 112 approved the National Action Plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by civil aircraft operators of the Republic of Belarus.

The national plan was developed as part of the implementation of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction System for International Aviation (CORSIA) program and is aimed at implementing the provisions of the Paris Agreement to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change dated December 12, 2015, improving fuel efficiency and reducing the concentration of greenhouse gases. gases in the atmosphere.

The Plan includes such activities as: modernization of the aircraft fleet, use of innovative biologically clean fuel, increase in the commercial load factor, creation of a single center for monitoring the environmental situation in the field of civil aviation, etc.

The adoption of measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by civil aircraft operators will make a significant contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goal 13 and other SDGs.
