National Spatial Data Infrastructure will be created in Belarus

The National Spatial Data Infrastructure is being created in Belarus by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated January 16, 2024 № 32 «On the creation and operation of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure».

The document approved:

  • Regulations on the National Spatial Data Infrastructure;
  • the procedure for creating, maintaining and developing the National Geoportal, as well as the list of services provided by its operator;
  • Regulations on the procedure for providing for use and use of basic spatial data sets and thematic spatial data sets from the list of mandatory spatial data sets;
  • a list of mandatory spatial data sets, their suppliers, the composition of information included in such sets, update periods;
  • a list of spatial data, the distribution and (or) provision of which is limited and which are not subject to open publication.

The creation and operation of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure will contribute to the development of the national economy, reducing the time spent on collecting, processing and updating information, which will make an important contribution to the achievement of the Republic of Belarus Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9, 16 and other SDGs.
