Plants to produce RDF-fuel will be built in Belarus

Belarus has adopted and is implementing the National Strategy for the Management of Municipal Solid Waste and Secondary Material Resources for the period up to 2035. The strategy defines the main directions for achieving a 90% level of waste use by 2035, one of which is the energy use of waste. First of all, it is about alternative fuel from waste – RDF-fuel.

In 2021, a production line for the use of RDF fuel was put into operation at OJSC «Krasnoselskstroymaterialy». It is expected that the first facility for the production of RDF-fuel will be at the waste processing plant and will be completed in Grodno in 2023. In the future, it is planned to build centralized plants for the production of RDF-fuel in Minsk, Volkovysk and Krichevsky districts.

The use of waste as an alternative source of fuel will contribute to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13 and other SDGs.
