On April 9, 2021, by decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus №213, the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Electric Transport for 2021–2025 was approved, which provides for an increase in public electric transport up to 30%.

According to the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, presented at the opening of the XXV Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum Energy Expo 2021, 45% of passenger transport in all cities of the country is planned to be switched to electricity. New materials, technologies, energy storage devices are being developed and created to accomplish this task.

The production and use of electric transport contributes to an increase in the efficiency of the use of natural resources, a wider introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, and also contributes to the achievement of the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11, 12, 13 and other SDGs.
