10 February 2022

The problem of drug addiction is relevant for most countries of the world. In order to develop the most effective approaches to forecasting and planning activities to address the problems associated with drug trafficking, a comprehensive study was conducted that determines promising directions for the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of combating the spread and illegal drug trafficking.

The main recommendations of the experts include the harmonization of drug legislation in accordance with international standards, the revision of the procedure for drug registration, medical examination and treatment, the introduction of an integrated approach to the treatment of disorders caused by psychoactive substance use, the provision of a comprehensive package of services for the prevention of HIV, viral hepatitis C and tuberculosis, including substitution therapy, in places of detention, involving representatives of key populations in the planning, development, implementation and subsequent evaluation of compliance with anti-drug legislation, and others.

Addressing the problems of drug trafficking is an important contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10, 16, 17 and other SDGs.
